These people from Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, AFRICA only want your money -- there is no puppy. This so-called "Cameroon Pet Scam" offers "free adoption" or way below value English Bulldog puppies, Yorkies, Maltese and other puppies, as well as parrots, monkeys and other pets.

The story can vary as to why the animal is free or discounted -- the current owner is a missionary who needs to find the puppy a new home due to the terrible weather in its current location; the animal was rescued from a natural disaster and needs a good home; owner’s busy work schedule, etc. etc.

The scammer will then ask interested buyers to pay for the dog's shipment, down payment, inoculations and any number of other miscellaneous fees. The victims wire money for the dogs but generally only get excuses for the delay. Instead, they're repeatedly asked for more money to cover additional "fees" invented by the scammer.

Greedy scammers will concoct even more fees that the victim needs to pay after the dog has been supposedly shipped.

You can identify these individuals because they will ask you to pay by money order or wire transfer. Unfortunately, once you wire the money, it’s gone and you can’t get it back.

Notice the scammers never include a phone number in these ads – they are located in Africa.

This scam is all over the internet, on every classified ads site and on puppy selling sites such as pupcity.com and puppyfind.com

Yes thank you so much this person said that his daughter and wife where killed in a car accident and that he needed to find loving homes for the puppies when i said that i would pay for shipping but only a C.O.D. he said no and that he would never take hard earned money. But yet he had enuff money to take all the puppies out of the country to CAMEROON with him.

This is so terrible! I actually was emailing a woman and it seemed very odd. She did not want to give me her information ( like phone number or shipping company she was going through) and was very insistent on getting my information asap. I feel so bad for anyone who has had this happen to them! Luckily I caught on to it before it was too late but many people might not. Is there anything else that can be done about it?

Rick, what is it going to take for you to understand this is a scam. There is no puppy! Notice that "rose" is located in Kenya Africa. She/he is a pet scammer. These pet scammers are all over the internet offering "free" or way below value puppies. You can identify these pet scammers because they will insist you pay by money order or wire transfer (can’t be traced). Never wire funds via Western Union, MoneyGram or any other wire service -- anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer. Do yourself a favor and research this scam -- Cameroon Pet Scam -- and don't become another victim. ANYONE FROM AFRICA OFFERING A PUPPY IS A SCAMMER!

I came across an ad "Beautiful English Bulldog for adoption" on my kijiji and decided to check it out. The person responded surprisingly quickly to all four of my emails and told me she only wanted me to pay for the shipping costs of the puppy ("Charlie", costs came up to $330) but refused to answer where she was until i told her i wanted to send her money. when i read "cameroon" and "western union wire transfer" i immediately started searching websites...especially since some good citizen immediately posted on kijiji a warning that puppy scams were going to hit kijiji. thank you to everyone for this info from an ALMOST sucker in canada

Yeah, I was almost scammed. But I caught it before it was too late. The people said they would take half the money now, then half after I got the puppies. I knew something was up. Bulldogs cost too much to be given away free. The people are from Cameroon. I was talking to 2 different ladies at the same time. Still am to one, but playing along to see how far to go. Asking her to send a picture of the 2 pups with a sign in front of them with todays date. The other lady told me her camera was broke. WHATEVER!! PLEASE DON'T ATTEMPT TO BUY ANY ANIMALS FROM A DIFFERENT COUNTRY. BE ABLE TO GO SEE THE ANIMAL, THEN PAY CASH IN PERSON FOR THEM. DON'T GET SCAMMED BY THESE A**ES!!!!!
