It's a shame she didn't get both of them! Hopefully this will be a deterrent for anyone considering invading a private residence.

I hope David Orentlicher reads this article and realizes it is much better to have more gun freedom and not less. If we had the draconian laws that New York and Washington DC have, this woman would probably be another rape/murder statistic. Now this lady has done us all a favor by getting rid of social slimeballs and proving self-defense is the o nly defense all at the same time.

The east side is crumbling, the west side is crumbling...anything that our dear Mayor has touched is in ruin...Hurricane Bart is doing more damage to the city of Indianapolis and Marion County that can be repaired,When is enough, enough?

This is exactly what I wanted to say,but let me just ad one more thing.
David Orentlicher should be impeached for even trying to take away rights he swore to uphold.
Remember ,the thug who got plugged ,will end up in the gun violence dead count,a little misleading ,not?

Congratulations and a BIG pat on the back to this woman! If every home had at least one gun in it, career criminals might consider a new line of work (or meet their deserved fate, like this one). I'll use mine, if the need arises! Consider yourselves forewarned, societal parasites! Again, cudos to this woman!

....and State Rep. David Orentlicher (D-Indianapolis) wants to further restrict gun ownership in Indiana. Perhaps he should peddle his liberal agenda elsewhere. I value my constitutional rights and the right to defend myself from the criminal element.

Liberals have a hard time rationalizing freedom ot bear arms. He needs to think about it as self-defense and believe what the NRA says "If guns are banned, only the criminals wil have guns". It's true.

I am as liberal as they come, Democrat to the core -- but I am concerned about my personal safety, often have to be out at night alone and now, own two handguns. I know how to use them, have a permit to carry and hope like hell, I never have to use my gun for any reason whatsoever.

David O's approach is naive and unrealistic. I voted for him and likely will again but on this issue, he just needs to understand that our right to protect and defend ourselves is one of those personal freedoms that is as liberal as liberal can be.

Good for the young lady who shot him defending her home. This is why we should continue to have guns in our homes, for the reason that those who feel it's ok to break in and steal from us who have earned our way through life, not those who don't want to work only take what is not theirs.
To the young lady: you can sleep at night you did the right thing!

Why?Why would you vote for him ,when your most fundamental rights are being infringed?

Why vote for someone who takes away your God (natural ,for you secuarlists)given rights.

Absolutely! I do think that there should be a required safety class for those who wish to a carry permit. I carry everyday and wish more people would.

Crime would start to drop if a few right-minded citizens stood up for themselves. Take the robberies and beatings along the Mono Trail. Those would drastically decrease if a few of the criminals met an untimely end.

It is very unfortunate that another young person has lost their life, however, their should not be any protest on the behalf of the home invaders. When you break into people's houses, you open yourself up to being killed. Your home should be your castle. You should be able to dwell there without someone entering without an invitation. I think it would be a shame for charges to be brought against the young lady. It was self defense. Hopefully this will detour the other idiots who are thinking about breaking into someone's house.
Maybe it will deter criminals if they think they could be shot. Maybe it will encourage them to fire first next time to limit the risk of being attacked. While I agree that owning a gun is a right that should be preserved in our country, it certainly makes it easier for these same guns to end up in the wrong hands.

Thank you to the apartment dweller who handled this investigation and eliminated at least one piece of scum from our society. She deserves a medal.
