That's the story? Another fine reporting job. A 10 year old shouldn't be responsible for a child that young for several weeks. They are barely responsible for themselves at that age. The toddlers parents also should be held responsible, if they can even be found.

They arrested a 10 year old and not the four freakin' parents who left a child with a child?!!

No wonder the Poneer Press is losing readers. Most of the Headlines are from Wisconsin. Must be really quite on the Eastside of St.Paul. How about some Minnesota News everyone likes to hear whats going on in there home state.

This is lame. Why is the 10 year old taking the responsibility of the parents????? They should have talk to the 10 year old before assuming that its him/her fault. INJUSTICE!!

The babysitter was 10 yrs old? A 10 yr old still needs a babysitter! What parent thought that was a good idea?

Must be along the same lines as unfit people who are allowed to procreate.

Just like everyone else is saying, why is a ten year old responsible for a child for "several weeks"? I think the parents are just as much to blame.

Who leaves a 10 year old in charge? Most 10 year olds aren't mature enough to handle this sort of responsibility. Idiot parents have messed up the lives of two kids...

If it is ILLEGAL to leave a child under the age of 12 home alone, why in the hell was a 10 year old babysitting? A 10 year old belongs in day care, or should have a babysitter themselves!

I hope both sets of parents are held responible for this horrible accident. The parents have ruined a 10 yr olds life because of this accident.

I have a 10 yr old nephew and there is no way he is mature enough to babysit without an adult in the home. Sometimes it makes him feel good / responsible when asked to babysit, but like I said an adult is in the home as well.

Why are they arresting a 10 yr old? Arrest the parents for leaving the toddler in the care of a child! Most 10 yr olds discipline as they themselves have been disicplined they don't have the life skills to understand that one form of discipline is not proper or even dangerous.

What school grade is a 10 year old in? Is it 3rd grade? 4th grade? No way a 10 year old should be alone watching a baby. Ridiculous and the parents are to blame.

What were the parents thinking? Wait, if they had been thinking this would never had happened.

Who hires a 10 year old to babysit? I wouldn't even leave my own 10 year old home alone for longer than 20 minutes. Sorry, but these parents should have used better judgement.

Isn't it ilegal to have a 10 year old babysitting or be home alone? Shouldn't the parents be held responsible?

What is the legal age for a child to remain at home by himself or herself and/or to babysit another child?
Most States do not have regulations or laws about when a child is considered old enough to stay home alone or to babysit other children. Some States have guidelines or recommendations. These guidelines are most often from child protective services and are administered at the county level. Contact information for all State child protective services agencies is available at www.childwelfare.gov/pubs/reslist/rl_dsp.cfm... .

I was in 5th grade when I was 10. Still way too young to babysit.

Then why would they leave him alone with a toddler? That makes even less sense. The parents should be arrested on child endangerment charges.

Obviously you don't know who this child is. He has had many similar encounters with the law before. His parents simply can not control him. I have it on good info that they have tried all "usual" disiplinary measures and none have worked. Neither Montel nor Maurey have been able to help either and one of the drill sargents actually retired after trying to crack this kid.
I'm glad that law enforcement has finally stepped in to this. I don't know that there is much choice but to lock the kid up. Beloit Parkview elementary school will be much safer bcause of it.

Frank, if the kid is actually that bad then the parents of both children REALLY need to be arrested. He may be a tyrant but all the parents involved were totally negligent, especially if he has a history of being uncontrollable.
