Belmont Man Charged with Attempted Murder

An Allegeny County man is being charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot at police and tried to ram a vehicle at them.

Gene R Fanton jr did not shoot at police, paper made a untrue statement. He did try and get away`which is true and was shot at over 50 times.Police over reacted.

I hope Gene Fanton learns from this terrible mistake and I pray that his children can stay strong & learn from it too. The statement that was made about hitting rock bottom is so true, but with faith & sound judgement the climb back up can be successful. My prayers are with him but mostly they are for his family who have suffered so much because of this tragedy. Remember that no matter how bad something seems if you you look hard enough you can always find something good

Gener (Gene Jr.} is at the Auburn Correctional Facility. He is doing as well as can be expected in a Max prison. He has no outside support except for his parents and two of his son's. He is sorry for what he has done and how it has hurt his family and friends. It was an addiction to pain meds that was his downfall.Gene has never been in trouble with the law before. When this first happen the newspaper said 3 people that seen this happen said he never fired at police. He had to plea bargain to avoid a life sentence. thanks for the nice comments and prayers for him.
