You are 100% incorrect. The reason why the school is being built in Gaston County as opposed to Meck County is because MICS is an approved GASTON COUNTY School. It cannot be built in any other county. The land was gifted to MICS - this is why this location was selected. Sadly, the city of Mount Holly will be loosing tons of revenue since they decided not to annex. MICS would have been paying the city as an outside customer. MICS is working with the county now.
Since when was that land gifted? There is a contingent sale of property listed based on water and sewer usage. Get your facts straight.

Now that Queen Kelly Pledger and her merry band of idiots have lost the fight with the county (unless the sue and dwindle away their remaining resources), looks like the school will have to fall back on options 2 and 3. Poor Kelly, you tried so hard to get the tax paying citizens of Mount Holly to subsidize your lake front, "private school wanna-be", trailer park. We all feel really bad for you, really :-). Perhaps you could convenience your board buddies to pack the thing up and move it across the line .... The State line!

You are mean! The school will not be built where it was initially going to be built; irregardless, MICS IS AN APPROVED GASTON COUNTY SCHOOL AND WILL BE BUILT IN GASTON. So you need to get over it!Y You are the idiot!

I have to commend Mrs. Pledger for having the dedication, intelligence and the drive to get a new school off the ground. If everyone had an ounce of what she possesses, this world would be a better place. What have you done to make your mark on the world?

We are not opposed to a better learning environment, in fact Mount Holly has several great learning environments. We are opposed to taking on the CMS refugees and Gaston County tax payers expense. Please move your trailer park back across the county line.
This is abhorent. I live in Mt. Holly and my daughter has been at MICS for two years (yes, I feel lucky she got in). I pay taxes in Mt. Holly, for Mt. Holly and I take offense to this statement. This is NOT a CMS school. It's a Gaston Co school. I submitted my application with everyone else because Kindergarten at Pinewood was a nightmare. Then 1st grade was even worse. The teachers were awful and the administration was just as bad. The administration had POLICE officers scare the Kindergarten class my kid was in because they were acting up. This was the first straw. The 2nd straw was every time I went to the administration to complain or get help with any issue I had it was a 'pat on the shoulder' and then nothing. I tried to get into Lincoln charter but was always 60+ down on the waitng list.

I chose to put my kid in MICS on a wing and a prayer that the administration and teachers would be better than Pinewood. I am so glad I made that decision. I'm not rich, I can't afford private school but I can pack a lunch for my child every day. We have had NOTHING but excellent experiences for the past two years. Love MICS!

If the DPI and Board of Education would get their priorities straight, no one would be looking for an alternative! 9 million on stadiums???? GCS could have some amazing programs with 9 mil!

Hold up - WHOSE priorities? Just yours? Those packed out stands on Friday nights will probably reflect the priorities of thousands of taxpayers. You don't think our athletic programs are good programs? Thousands of taxpayers would beg to differ. Everyone doesn't share your narrow view. You have your alternative - why do you want to deny someone else theirs?

It's not only about money. It's about support from the parents. If the parents who are volunteering and donating to the charter school would've been that supportive and involved in their public school there wouldn't be a need for an alternative.

It's called a Board of EDUCATION for a reason. Do you really think stadiums should come before teacher assistants? The majority of TA's were cut for next year, while stadiums are being repaired???? As for volunteering, yes indeed volunteering is essential for a successful school, as well as $. NC doesn't even have the $ to buy new text a for the new curriculum.$ can buy additional teachers, TA's which equals smaller class sizes and better learning environment and more successful students.

I'm referring to MICS, not Piedmont. There are a number of students leaving. I know for a fact that last week alone at least 6 to 8 students left the charter school to return to Rankin Elementary.
Look. There's no need to get rude. They are simply showing love for their school. I am one of the 1st grads there and so far all of the students and teachers work tremendously hard at all they do. Yes alot of students have left over the years. This school is a bully free zone and the students are leaving because the school isn't as modern as others but we're getting there. Besides we're getting first hand experience unlike other schools with huge classes where teachers are unable to get to know each student

How selfishly rude of you to say. Our founder wanted a strong intelligent leaders school, and that's what we are! The lack of buildings has NOTHING to do with what we stand for and do. I'd also like to inform you that our building s being built RIGHT NOW just down the street. So though it really shouldn't matter whether or not we have a building, we are getting one, and will hopefully be in it by next year. You really should think, it's only our 3rd year of being a school, and we already have many things other schools lack. So look forward to paying for a regular charter school just as you are. We are NOT a trailer park school! We have class, and are loving student learners, and appreciate what our society has created for us. Unlike SOME people...Huh.
