I ate down at Sammies two nights ago, when I returned to my car Sargeant Hunter had left me a green envelope containing a $5 parking ticket. My question is Why in such a small town and WHY at 9:30 at night when most businesses are closed do you issue me a freaKIN TickET when I have parked in that same space ( all parking on mainstreet was full) for 5 YEARS!!. I wasn't in front of a fire hydrant or parked in handicap. This may just be fall out from the two douches over their parking disputes. It is funny how things change. Hey sarg, Why are You writing parking tickets?

I dislike this progress. If I want a parking ticket I would go downtown charlotte. Now I understand certain instances but 9:30 on a friday night? when the only places that are open is the diners. Next time I will go across the tracks where there is ample room and no problems. My money will stay across the tracks as well. Got no time for fools controlling spaces.

sorry to interrupt you speaking with with you alter ego, but perhaps you should have noticed the no parking sign before you parked there. I don't think you have much to do if you came here to complain about $5, but then again you are the bard and that would explain that, lol!

Pay it and let it go.. good karma.. right?

Well the point is not the cash.

I think Dawge is making a point which describes frustration at change of policies long standing in the sense that what was acceptable yesterday is not today.

The key is whom may own the property.

If the city is lord then a fee is necessary for good town moral.

However, if private property then the fee is barbarous at best vile at worst.

This is what you get when you employ as many cops as Belmont currently does. You have to pay for it somehow, expect more tickets, more road blocks, more radar, and more pains in the a_ _.

If we're going to employ them, we need for them to do their job - concentrate on the 74/Park St/85 areas where you can't even go to Walgreens without getting held up.

Downtown is not where the stick-ups are. I say, stop harassing good citizens and go intercept these thugs coming from across the river!

I totally agree, unfortunately they will not do this, they will focus on revenue generation.

Most of us are broke already, and you will see the cities county and state doing all they can to make it worse. If you are broke and cannot afford to pay a fee for small things such as an auto inspection, they are going to start making sure you are broke, and then some. I am lucky not to have these problems yet, but its comming quickly. Many people are just lazy and deserve the fines assessed, but some people in these times are having to weigh paying $20 to get the car inspected, or buying formula to feed their kid. Our government is out of control at all levels, and this is just more proof.

More than LIKELY the police were responding to a complaint.

More than LIKELY the complaint was from Vince., lol!

Yes, it is as stated earlier the behest of a local landowner protecting their spaces.

You can beat the ticket with circumstances.

FIght it to the Highest Court in the land.

Make a $5 ticket cost'em thousands.

The point is we have plenty of parking downtown unless an unusually large event occurs.

Normally I wouldn't think many people would complain. Worst case scenario someone has to park a little further... ah ha!

Somebody got their Hummer dirty. Boo Hoo.

Tis not the point yet again.

He may not have broken the law is the point.

A review of the ordinances will detail the such.

Because was in fact the law broken?

Under what statue was the fee rendered. Belmont has a history of just thinking things up or should I say not thinking.

I could care less bout the 5 dollars, instead it is the motive and the point of the ticket. Pretty much im paying them for not having a parking space for me. That sounds backwards. I have always been glad my town hasn't been like charlotte. I would brag to customers who hadn't known the area and such. Im afraid that bragging has stopped and turn into complaints that we are looking more like charlotte every day.

They didnt give tickets unless you were parked in front of a fire hydrant. I may be wrong but is there not a law requiring you to provide proper parking? And if there is wouldn't that include at least a handicap place?
