Let me begin by saying I have a good residential carrier. He's friendly, accurate, and efficient. When he's been out, his substitutes have sometimes been a disaster, but he's great. My post that follows has nothing to do with him.

For years I have received other people's mail in my post office box. I know it happens to others because I've been there when they opened their box and made a comment about it. I've witnessed disgusted people just throwing away mail that wasn't theirs! I never do that - I slip it under the door or put it in the letter box. Point is - it happens a lot!

There have been several months I never received a water bill at my residence and just happened to realize it and and paid it by calling the city to see how much it was. You know, if you don't pay by the 15th, off goes your water whether you get a bill or not!

Through the years I have talked to several post masters and filed written complaints. They all apologize and assure me it will be corrected, but it is not.

Who is the post office accountable to? No one it seems. Aren't they required to be able to read? I've gone in and heard them talking and laughing to each other back behind the boxes - I guess they need to hush and pay attention to what they are doing!

If most of us did our jobs with the inaccuracies they have, we'd be fired.

I've been living in Belmont for 2yrs and Belmont Post Office is by far the worst! Someone different delivers my mail everyday which is ok with me if they only knew how to read.....since I moved here at least one day of the week I get mail for someone else. At one point I was getting my mail opened including my W2 last year.
I have made several complaints and reported it to the postal police and everyone just apologizes-I'm tired of the DAMN apologizing, I just want my mail to be put in my mail box unopened, on time and not to receive mail for someone else since that delays mail for those people too.

I have also intermittently gotten mail for neighbors in my box, and try to personally move to their box or put it back w/ flag up to be redelivered. Doesn't seem to happen to me with the degree of frequency that has been expressed here, but it has made me wonder whether or not all my own mail makes it to me. So far I've never missed anything potentially important (bills, etc. as Citizen experienced...perhaps I'm just lucky so far.)
Overall though, I've generally been pleased with BPO...they've handled mail stops/starts with efficiency, and it seems relatively uncommon (not that I need to go there alot) that there's a huge line at the counter.

This may sound petty, but my number one complaint about the BPO is the fact that when I need a stamp, that damn stamp machine is ALWAYS broken. I wish they'd use the money I keep losing in it, to fix it.

I totally feel your pain. That stupid machine is either !. Broken on a consistent basis or B. only carrying 1 cent stamps. PS: It will take your money in a jiffy

I have spoken with the mailhandler twice and tried to speak with the postmaster but they were out to lunch....I usually hand deliver the missorts and just today found mail in my yard...However the Clerks in local office do outstanding work always friendly and efficient.

I too have a problem with the BPO itself. Hours are allegedly 8:30-5:00. In the morning it seems they don't unlock the doors until 8:35-8:40 and then in the afternoon they lock the doors at 4:50-4:55.

They should redo the sign on the door to read, " Since this is a gov. job, we open and close when we seem fit and there's nothing you can do about it!"

Yesss dear...you seem to hear lots of garbage don't you??? Weeeell....let's just saaaay if you are gooood to your postman....you always get your mail on time....oooh...and he's never lost a lost parcel...nooot even once...
