If someone is in politics or has chosen the limelight I assume they can handle themselves. What makes you so certain if I did know who Maxine was that I would agree with everything she does or says? A lot of projection in your post but very little substance, just one more of your typical, repetitive rants.
Don't apologize for your vote now, St. Stephen.

Agreed. The people who should be paying the closest attention to what Obama does and says are those that elected him. If anyone should be holding this president accountable for his campaign promises it should be the people who voted for Mr Hope & Change and got a more progressive version of Bush Jr.

Instead we have just get the fingernail on chalkboard rants of a St. Stephen, who for the first time in his life is actually accurate in proclaiming his ignorance of pretty much everything now that it's obvious.

Wait a minute, pipedream. Are you telling us you think republicans control Congress? CONGRESS??!!

You do realize the US Congress consists of two houses, right? The House and The Senate.

You are aware republicans have control of The House of Representatives and the democrats have control of The Senate .... right??!!!

Do you know why they call Harry Reid the MAJORITY LEADER?? Do you even know who Harry Reid is?

Please, for God's sake, tell us you at least know this.

Evidently you're right..

This is really interesting ... and kind of scary. Liberals on this site have in just a matter of days proven they weren't even listening to Obama's own words over the last 4 years, they're not familiar with such commonly-known politicians and progressive spokespeople as Maxine Waters, and they lack even the most basic knowledge of how our congress is designed.

I guess we should be satisfied with having been right all along about the low intelligence and lack of education of the common liberal voter, but damn, I'd rather we'd been proven wrong.

Guess everybody but you and your step son Rob understand the dynamics in the Senate for the past few years, beginning with the 111th Congress Jan. 2009. While its true the Democrats have held a MAJORITY in the Senate since that time, the Republicans have effectively 'controlled' the legislative process by way of the filibuster. In the case of Senate Republican filibusters a 60 vote SUPERMAJORITY is required to end a Republican filibuster and bring legislation to vote. Said another way, a minimum of 41 Senate Repuplican votes can sustain a filibuster, thus avoiding cloture or a vote to end filibuster. When a party has 41 members, all they have to do is threaten filibuster in order to bring the Senate to a halt. Over the past 6 years, and particularly since Obama took office in Jan. 2009, the Republican Senate has utilized the filibuster an unprecedented number of times to thwart and obstruct the legislative process. Why do you think the no legislation is coming out of the Senate?

As a practical matter, the Democratic Party only had a 60% filibuster-proof super majority in the Senate from about Sep. 2009 till Feb. 2010. At all other times since then, Senate Republicans held at least 41 seats and as many as 47 seats making the required 60 vote SUPERMAJORITY to end their filibusters or attempted filibusters almost impossible to overcome.

And that is how the obstructionist Republicans have effectively 'controlled' both houses of Congress.

I wouldn't expect either of you to be capable of understanding this process or these facts however. You both have demonstrated many times here how little you actually know. You both need to get your noses away from faux news and the right wing propaganda spin.

Don't even think about pulling your bull shit spin game here.

Just admit you don't understand the legislative process or the concept of filibuster in the Senate. Just admit you really don't have a good understanding of anything, except what Faux news and right wing spin feeds you. Its OK, we already know it. You just have to finally accept it and admit it.

Maybe you should inform all three legislative branches we no longer need a majority leader of the Senate or of the House for that matter. May as well have Obama resign because the republicans have this godly power of the filibuster. But the fact still remains the same Republicans control one house not the other. You are still wrong.
Maybe I should inform all THREE legislative branches? which three are they o' clever one?

And yes Senate Republicans do control the upper legislative chamber with their use of the Filibuster. Why do you suppose so few bills have made its way out of the Senate, o' clever one?

Has the minority senate Republicans been willing to compromise on revenue and spending cuts? NO Have the compromised on anything? NO Have the senate Republicans even been willing to consider the revenue side? NO. Has Reid been able to muster 60 votes to override the filibuster games of the GOP/TP? No again. What should Reid do? Cave in completely to the teabaggers?

Caving in would give them what they want. And then they would bad-mouth them for being weaklings...or some other derogatory terminology. Just like when Obama "caved" on making part of the Bush temporary tax cuts permanent and then Boehner strutted around talking about how he got 98% of what he wanted as a victory over Obama.

Give em the whole candy store and they'll still expect you to pay the rent.

Guess you don't understand who set up the filibuster rules in the first place do you? Or when? Too bad it has jumped up to bite the Dems in the behind. Guess they will have to change the rules, again, to win. Of course, that is a bit of a catch 22 isn't it? If they change the rules again, it will again jump up to bite them in the behind. Look it up. Lots of places out there with valid information on when the rules were changed and by whom.

A filibuster does not equate to controlling the Senate, no matter how mad you are about the latest occurrence. If you're going to just pitch a hissy and make exaggerations up then you'd better expect to be corrected.

At least this experience forced you to go look up the definition and history of the filibuster. Now go look up the term Useful Idiot and report back.
