There is one thing people should get straight the police are law enforcement, not crime prevention, There has probably never been a case of the police preventing a crime where many citizens have.

Sorry officers of the law you cant prevent crime just maybe clean up the mess after it happens.

Just wondering what was he doing on the street looks like this guy should have had some mental health care. I call for background checks for buying hatchets shovels hoes and all sharp instruments. Heck you cant buy model glue without showing your ID.

Just this week a girl in the Grand Rapids area attacked her parents with a hatchet and a knife while they slept. Fortunately, they weren't killed but that was her stated intent.
There was another incident in the same area not that long ago either where a kid stabbed his dad with a steak knife.
People intent on harming or killing will use whatever weapon they can get their hands on. Look how many killings involving weapons there are in prison where they supposedly have NO access to weapons.

Media play is what provokes people to question Americas' gun policies. A story of some nut that should never had access to a firearm seems to almost always spark the debate. This country was founded on the principle that it's citizens are armed. In fact, if the citizens of this country had not been armed as the British would have loved, where would we be today? Take away a person's right to protect his/herself and/or put food on the table? In this nation? Not only would there be a revolt, but the black market of arms would be prevalent and a near uncontrollable toll on enforcemen. More taxpayer money in attempt to enforce the unenforcable.
