Here's another thread for the progressives to ignore.

One of the selling points of Obamacare was to increase competition and drive premiums down. As predicted (by those of us who've been called everything from racists to terrorists for having the vision to see this inevitability) the reality is Obamacare is having just the opposite effect.

http://townhall.com/tipsheet/conncarroll/2013...

A recent Heritage study found that 42 of the 47 states for which comparable premium data is available will see significant average premium increases—in many cases, over 100 percent—for individuals purchasing from the exchanges.Com petition has the ability to lower costs and improve quality, but Obamacare exchanges do not achieve this goal.

USA Today's findings mirror those of The Heritage Foundation who conducted a similar county-by-county analysis of Obamacare's impact on insurance markets earlier this year. Here it what Heritage found:

In the vast majority of states, the number of insurers competing in the state’s exchange is actually less than the number of carriers that previously sold individual market policies in the state.
At the local level, in over half of the 3,135 counties in the U.S., consumers will face an exchange market that is either a duopoly or monopoly. In 78 percent of U.S. counties, exchange enrollees will have a choice of coverage from three or fewer carriers.
The exchange market in over 94 percent of U.S. counties will feature competition among five or fewer companies. In Alabama, about 96 percent of that state’s counties will have only one insurer offering coverage in the exchange.

Shocker ...

"Many people voted for Obama because they thought Obamacare would give them free healthcare."

"Obama promised free healthcare in order to get reelected. He knew free healthcare was impossible, but most people have short attention spans, do not remember history, and do not pay enough attention to politics to figure out that it was a lie. The next time someone complains about their insurance premiums going up, your response should be to ask them if they voted for Obama."

Agreed, Jim. And just to add a side note to that; The next time some liberal gets in your face and demands you or your republican representative offer a plan to solve the health care fiasco, remind them that it was their democrat representative that created this manufactured mess. Therefore why ask the republicans, none of whom voted for ACA in the first place, for a fix?

Up until 2008 healthcare was barely in the top 5 of Americans' main concerns. The majority of Americans were fine with the established health care system, albeit concerned for increased premiums - hardly something the nitwit democrats solved by passing an unread progressive booby trap.

"Oh, but think of the poor people who couldn't afford health care...", they'll whine incessantly.

Again, remind them, one-third of the uninsured have always been eligible for Medicaid and/or SCHIP coverage but don’t bother to sign up. Many of the other two thirds still won't be able to afford an expensive Tinfoil plan under Obamacare.

The non-functional Obamacare website rollout alone is costing us over a billion dollars. Imagine how many Americans could have been granted vouchers and assistance to get health insurance with a billion dollars.

Also, the republicans have offered numerous alternatives to Obamacare, and they've all wound up in Heir Reid's trashcan, stamped DOA.

So, the next time some snot-nosed liberal shoves his scrawny finger in your face and demands a solution, tell him to go whine to the a-holes that foisted this law on us. Republicans don't owe them a damned thing!

Interesting how democrats (who are up for reelection next year) are now trying to distance themselves from the ACA act tat they themselves supported and voted for.

Funny how all of these democrat's who voted for Obamacare, are now back tracking. It will be interesting to see how they try to explain their way out of a law that they themselves voted for.

....But it's supposed to get to 42 degrees here tomorrow........
Oh well.
The one I bought is a 2000 model, so, not a "brand new" one,.... so not a large investment.
But it's fun,..... just hope the warm weather doesn't melt too much snow.

it's not the premium's stupid; it's the deductibles that have risen to the point of making premiums pure commission!

what good is a $300 monthly premium for a family of four when your deductible went from $200 to $5000 before any insurance kicks in.

this ethanol of a policy is what their LAS hath provided.

like sheep following the shepherd to the cliff's edge as he steps aside.
