Belmont Driver Killed by Dead Deer
Troopers from the Rockford MSP post report that one person died this morning after a passenger car struck a dead deer on northbound US-131 near Six Mile Road, north of Grand Rapids.

I would disagree with the headline. The driver was killed by the failure of someone to remove the dead deer from the roadway after he hit and killed the deer.

Maybe someone should have removed it, but who?
To the best of my knowledge, the person who actually killed it to begin with isn't required to.
While the county road commission or MDOT might have that as part of their job description, who is to say how long this deer had been there. It may have been killed just prior to this guy hitting it.
I'm as sorry as the next person that this person died, but the short of it is that the driver was/is at fault here. It's the driver's responsibility to drive at a speed which is safe. Obviously, the driver was going faster than their reaction time allowed for.

headline should read: an ied; Impediment to Egress Deer takes out potential threat to species.
