The phrase '' PRIZES FOR PRESERVATION '' in Mr. Grobaty's humorus column has a more serious application than the one he intended. I assume the Advanced Media Productions Department at Cal State Long Beach is being honored for its recent documentary on architect Paul Revere Williams. The process of granting funds for this project by the Long Beach Naval Memorial Heritage Foundation was seriously flawed. I suggest the Press-Telegram -- or one of the ''alternative media'' like the District Weekly -- start lifting a few rocks and see how many inhabitants of the dark running.
