Restrictions on smoking should be in place where ever the general public would be exposed to the smoke. Among places that should have restrictions on smoking should be public sidewalks, beaches, parks(all parks, not just kiddie tot lots)markets, ball games & fairs ect.

To all control freaks everywhere -
They (our govt.) are already trying to control what we think and do (smoking bans and fat bans). What will be next, maybe what we are allowed to see and hear over the airwaves.... Complete censorship.(remember this !! after 9/11 they forbid the news to show what happened to the towers because they believed it was "too much" for the American public to handle) They might believe that violent cartoons, football and ice hockey are too violent for the average adult who can not even control his health (smoking and fat bans), how could he possibly control what affects watching all that violence on television could do to him or his children. This is the freedom of speech. Would you understand what we are trying to say then ? What kind of govt. bans the usage of a legal product while at the same time collecting taxes from it ? What kind of govt. takes Privately owned property and declares it public space ? What kind of govt. promotes discrimination of one group of people by another ? |

There is no discrimination against smokers. The problem with smokers is they hang the cigarettes out the car windows so everyone else has to smell and breath their filthy habit. They mingle around the organic produce at the Farmer's Market and then fill the air with vile cancer causing smoke. Sometimes smokers even stink when they get in elevators. The walking dead trying to pass it on to everyone else. Stinky, nasty, buttheads, littering the ground and putting out cigarettes in flower pots. Perhaps if smokers were more courteous they would be allowed to live in peace. Smoke in one area but they are rude, stinky, litterbugs, firestarters.....the list just goes on.

When we see a smoker we should really have pity for them. Smokers are after all addicts, slaves to big bad tobacco, and are really a sad & stigmatized group of people.

Yep, that sounds like a "legal" reason to get revenge upon smokers.... But we knew that all along.... It is your only true reason for wanting non-smoking everywhere. Control issues I think you have... tsk tsk. |
|
Fun lovin life you may be right it is a control issue to stamp out stinky smokers. Anti-smokers want to control the longevity of their life. We want to control the air we breath and have it be free of cancer causing agents. We want to control the odor smokers omit, the stench of it all. So if that is being a control freak I'll accept it. Smokers are being banned in many places because they think they are entitled to smack others in the face with their nasty addiction. Get a life on your own island and slowly slip away, lay on the beach with your O2 tank and bask in the sun.

I feel so sorry for you. Those who practice intolerance and can not compromise always end up losing. I hope you have a good life Jane and that you never need any assistance from anyone, because you will never get it. Chances are, you will be the one left out in the cold. good bye. |

fun lovin life, please don't feel sorry for me. Have your own pity party. Practice tolerance for what?? Smokers killing innocent people with secondhand smoke?? Compromise my health, oh heck no. You need to get real, all smokers will face the consequences of what they have done to themselves and I sure won't be feeling sorry for you.
