Did you hear about the new ban coming? People want to eliminate public toilets due to germs and 'they don't like the smell'.
One group thinks it's terrible that people use public toilets as then people know they 'go'.
California will most likely put it thru first.

Wonderful news! No one should be forced to breathe dangerous secondhand smoke and outdoor places where the public congregates are no exception. Many cities have rightfully banned smoking in outdoor parks, recreational areas, and beaches, and farmers markets are a great next step. Secondhand cigarette smoke is not just a "nuisance" but hazardous and has no place in such locations.

Will they ban car exhaust in urban areas? It would be paradise if they would!

ONE Federal agency to make a statement on Second Hand Smoke was OSHA it is NOT the danger people are making it out to be. Take what OSHA
Occupational Safety & Health Administration said about Second Hand Smoking in the work place.

Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS)

Because the organic material in tobacco doesn't burn completely, cigarette smoke contains more than 4,700 chemical compounds. Although OSHA has no regulation that addresses tobacco smoke as a whole, 29 CFR 1910.1000 Air contaminants, limits employee exposure to several of the main chemical components found in tobacco smoke. In normal situations, exposures would not exceed these permissible exposure limits (PELs), and, as a matter of prosecutorial discretion, OSHA will not apply the General Duty Clause to ETS.

Smoking isn't a right guaranteed by anything except your own stupidity. I commute into the SOMA and breathe in more the normal situational levels of second hand smoke - walk down market any given day. Stand in line for anything outside and breathe in the freshly lit cigarette smoke constantly from the inconsiderate mob of smokers who love sharing their disease with all the innocent bystanders. If you don't get the fact that smoking in public annoys people who don't smoke, I'd like to come over where your working/living/standing and convert it into a public restroom - same difference.

Ever paused to wonder about some of the stuff YOU do that annoys other people and how YOU'LL feel if they start campaigning to have YOU marginalised?

Oh BTW smoking causes cancer and just in case you didn't know, cancer is fatal most of the time.

Smoking is annoying because it can potentially kill you and others (second hand) dumbshits. All you're doing is playing with words, get an education and realize your arguments are made from this guy who's made of straw.

If you smoke in front me or my family as I ask nicely for you to put it out, but ideally it would be nice to know clearly where you can and can't smoke. No one's saying you can't smoke, just not in a effing market.

I like the smoking ban, as the buttheads, for the most part, can't seem to figure out where to place their butts, so they go into the street.

Ideally, buttheads would become extinct as soon at the tobacco industry is outlawed. It is a disgusting and a killer habit, and must be stopped now.

OSHA never said it was NOT a problem. what they are saying it is NOT life threating in the Work place at normal levels. One coment I read a while ago from an OSHA saftey inspector went something like this. The levels of the carsingens in the air from second hand smoke in the work place show NO health or saftey risk to the work enviornment. If OSHA was to lower the level of carsingens in the work place to fit the Smoking problem we would have to shut down most of the factories in the USA with Carsingens from all kinds of things in many factories, like ovens, Grills, Welding, electric motors, ect. ect. They all put off many of the same carsingens as cigarette smoke, some times even more.

Really, I would love a ban on alcohol again, and let's make it work, this time, controlling the gangsters, etc.
