My head is spinning! 15 freaking years of advertising just so people wouldn't be AFRAID of the town, now they want to spend 40K to hire someone to bring in a crepe shop (because more RESTAURANTS are clearly the answer to having no flipping RETAIL downtown!) and oh yes, let's give Jane "Retail? What's retail?" Carr a PROMOTION from Executive Director to Chief Operating Manager AND hire someone help with her burdensome workload... because gosh, she does such a GREAT job booking talent shows, oldies bands and Easter bunny photo ops. Did Ms. "We've certainly gotten past the "I'm afraid to come here'(factor)" also get a raise to go with her spiffy new title and lightened workload?

Ugh. The stupid in this town hurts my brain.

i like what Freehold is trying to do and i hope they can do it with a bad economy. if Freehold can do this i think the town will become a classier place and more people will want to go there. i keep telling my husband Jim that we need to move back because its my hometown and i want to be here closer to mom and many people i grew up with and went to high school with. many of us moved away when we were younger, but we're all in our 30s now and want to move back to boro because there's no place like it. i think its only going to get better with what the town is doing.

What the hell is this person saying? "Afraid to come here factor", how many years has she been charged with running the FCP? Is she referring to attracting new retailers or attracting pedestrians? Where did this "Afraid to come here factor" notion come from and what does this comment say about FCP effectiveness over the last 10 years?

I see a L-T-E from the FCP being written very soon!

Read the article. She's talking about potential consumers being afraid of the town. And she has been running the PS for at least the past ten years, and probably a few more than that. So nice of her to finally working on the very thing the PS was supposedly doing all along, which (according the their own web site) is 'fostering the Center's economic development'.

Doin' a heckuva job, Janey.

Hey noone, you love to complain. You are really good at it. Sounds like you think you can take over and do a much better job.

i think the american hotel coming back, better Kruze Nights, the thing the town is doing with the neighborhoods to get them fix up, i heard the high school is one of the best, that kind of stuff. i think the town is moving in the right direction and if they can get some better stores on Main Street that people really want, the Boro can be a real hot spot to stop at and live in. That's why Jim and i want to get a place while property values are lower but that's easier said than done and Jim likes the Boro but he isn't from around here so he isn't in a real big rush to move out of Neptune as me. We only rent now at Hampshire Terrace, so we could move tomorrow if we found something we can afford

This town gives everyone plenty to complain about, and I guess practice makes perfect.

So. What do YOU think about Ms. Carr and her claim to having convinced the outside world that Freehold isn't as scary as they thought? Seen any evidence to back her claims up? Do you think that it is helpful thing to say to the press and that it presents the town in a positive way? Do you think she is worth the $53,684 the PS pays her? Why?

And please do enjoy the view through those rose colored glasses of yours, and be sure to tell everyone what a GREAT job the Freehold Center Partnership does, okey-doke? Because the downtown is SO much better today than it was 15 years ago, right? And it hasn't affected the residential property values one itty-bit, has it? Nah, how could it?*headdesk*

you will find a number of affordable homes for sale on Center street. And a handyman special on Avenue A. There was a house for sale on Mechanic Street for sale that had a restaurant style kitchen to die for. You must look at Bond and 2nd too.

Is Jim runner?

Wow. I am clearly outmatched here! You were captain of your high school debate team, right? And the president of the Young Republicans Club?

i better not show this to Jim. He'll sign a five year lease for this apartment. LOL! really i think the most we can afford is a home for about $185 to maybe $200. we can only put about ten percent down and Jims dad may come up with a couple thousand for us to help. But, we're not holding our breath.

If you're planning on moving to Freehold 1st you have to learn Spanish. Then before you buy make sure the houses in the area are not rentals. Because if they are you are going to wind up living next to a houses with 30 illegal Mexicans living there who have to sleep in shifts. And on garbage day your street is going to look like the Monmouth County dump.
