EPIC rejection shows Estes Park's true direction

With rejection of the EPIC proposal for the acquisition of a few parking spaces, the Town of Estes Park has again been able to stave off a major project that might have led to our ruin. Full Story

If you don't like the direction the town is heading, why don't you run for town board?

Oh, wait, you already did, and were soundly thrashed. Last placerino.

Go back to suing the world for your unhappiness.
Now that is hardly fair

Dave is a god-fearing, well, a god-loving, oh god dammit, no, that's not right either. Dave is a godless individual who learned sarcasm in second grade and never let go. In fact, his second-grade sarcasm proves that he is too jaded to stay here any longer. Go away, little girl. Go away, little girl. There's nothing this town can give to make you stay. When you are godless like this. You're just to hard to dismiss. Go to the Soviet Union, where you can make scads of money and practice your lack of faith in mankind.

Hello I am David Hubba Hubba Hawbreaker and I think it is very impertinent to mock and criticize my efforts to make this the best place to live in for atheiests and nonbeaver alike.

David - I think the first thing that we should have in your brand new performing arts center is Godspell, no, wait, Jesus Christ Superstar, no, that won't do, how about the Leon Uris novel "Exodus" set to music? "Mr. God, This is Anna"?, no, well, "Diary of Anne Frank"? "Book of Mormon"?

If we had a performer on Independence Day that sang "God Bless America", would you

A) Shoot them
B) Shout at them
C) Convert them
D) Sue them

As usual, the idiot right wing jumps in to make worthless comments around God. Sorry guys, your cartoon God doesn't exist, which is why idiots like you don't have the brains to contribute anything useful to an important conversation. Too bad you will never know the truth, since when your eyes shut thankfully for the last time, that will be the end, not the beginning of your worthless journey.
I am fine with that

I am not right wing or left wing, I'm just "David Jawbreaker is an idiot" wing.

He thinks he is brilliant. He thinks he is amusing.

He is neither.

He is just a loudmouth, that guy at the party that everyone flees from.

He embarrasses himself when he opens his mouth. He embarrassed Estes Park on a national scale.

I don't care if he thinks he has a big weener to match his big ego.

One of of them is big, and it ain't down below.

He practically pulled down his pants on national TV.

This is the third time around for you crybabies. Strike three! Take it like the adults which you apparently aren't. True human beings would have thanked everybody on both sides for their time and moved on. But no. You have to whine and complain. If you don't like things in Estes Park, move on and let those of us who are happy here remain and enjoy the peace and tranquility of our mountain town. It's survived until now, and it will survive without all you self righteous people. One more thing. 847 people out of shall we say approximately 6-7,000 full time residents (and are that 847 all full time) wrote checks for EPIC. Thats approximately 12%--15%. What about the remaining 85%? I would say more people are against EPIC than for. There have been many suggestions to put it up for public vote and let the chips fall where they may. What about it? Are you afraid to?

To hear that David Habecker, you know, the unpatriotic SOB who was recalled because of his refusal to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. You really deserve better.

Did not really hear any of the trustees say they thought the theater was a bad idea.

If they can't build it on that footprint and provide the needed parking, then they need to re-design it.

The "donation" of the property scheme sounds less like a donation and more like a tax avoidance plan. If your town trustees are being asked to sacrifice a precious commodity(parking), they have a right to know every detail of this grandiose undertaking. And that includes who the property eventually reverts to if it ceases to be viable. The only thing worse than the eyesore that this property is would be for it to have a derelict building that is too big for all but the wealthiest of developers to rehabilitate.

Does anyone know if any deals were made on this property that could have been closed and developed? You would hate to see the Town get to the point of saying that the property is a blight on the landscape and begin condemnation proceedings.

While I personally think Habecker is an arrogant, self-centered SOB, his refusal to stand and pledge allegiance to a piece of cloth was one of the few things he's done that I agree with.

Personally, I pledge allegiance to my family, my neighbors and to my fellow citizens. I vow to be a worthy being, and will do my best to be a truthful and contributing member of our society. I will bow down to no man as my 'better', nor do I expect any man to bow down before me.

And I will disdain, with my whole being, those who wrap themselves in pathetic 1950's jingosim.......

Since when is the symbol of our great country apiece of cloth? You belong in the same category as Mr. Habecker. Trying to hide behind your coat tails with the eroneous statement above about your allegiance, doesn't cut it. If you can't pledge allegiance to your flag and country, then I suggest you get your butt out of the USA!
By the way, thankyou for your observation of the so called "DR. Bert Berglund."

So, since you are such a great and loyal American, better than others - what's your opinion of the recent documents stating that our government can un-Constitutionally kill American citizens overseas without having to release proof of terrorism, without consulting a court? How does that fit in your "wrap yourself in the flag" mindset?

WoW, you guys really know how to stir up the Democrats.

As someone who grew up here and has watched this go on for years and years (I.E McDonalds and Safeway, wider sidewalks ect, ect) this is how it's done in Estes Park, get over it!

I've noticed the last few years Estes has became the dumping ground for retired pubic employees and school teachers, most card carrying liberals who moved to Estes and now want to change Estes Park into something else. Many of the old guard in Estes like things the way they are, we'll get something in these vacant lots, Re...Lax! We'll get something that will not cost the taxpayer any more than we already pay, re....lax.
