I found this site after doing a Google search for our dear friend Lou. My husband and I go to church with him and his wife - he is a precious, sweet man. If you know Lou Basso, I'm asking you to pray for him. He had a stroke last Wednesday night and is in very critical condition. He has blessed us so much in the 7 months that we've been at the church. He has a genuine love for the Lord and a joyful spirit unlike any I've ever seen before. Please pray God's mercy on him and his family.
Thank you so much.
Thanks for letting me know about Lou. I will get word out and perhaps try and call his wife.
I knew Lou in the 60's and he came and played one of my benefits for Hospice in the last 8 years.
Please update when you know more.
Peace and love
Nancy

Lou passed away peacefully just past 4pm Wednesday, July 11th. For anyone who knew Lou and his sweet wife Judy, please feel free to go to the CaringBridge website to write her a short note. I know she would be touched to hear your words of encouragement and any fun memories you have of Lou. This is a very sad time having to say goodbye to such a wonderful man, but we do trust in God's Word that he is now present with the Lord. I'm certain he's full of joy now.... and probably playing his harmonica!! What an awesome man of God and wonderful friend, Lou Basso. Looking forward to seeing him again someday.

Thanks for your note Nancy. Lou went to Heaven yesterday afternoon. I just left the link to the hospital's CaringBridge website on my most recent comment on here. Please feel free to use that link leave a short note for Judy and Dylan about Lou. Judy has been overwhelmed by the love and support she's been receiving on there. Thanks also for getting the word out about Lou. He was a truly precious man.

Anyone ever hear from louie basso
Lou had a stroke this year and died shortly after. He had been a hospice chaplain for a number of years and did come play one of the benefits I put together. Believe it was the one in 2008.
A great guy gone too soon

OMG, Louie Basso passed away. I played music with him in the late 60's and early 70's. He was a great entertainer. Also playing with us were Butch Brown, Scott Durkin. So sad to hear.

Also lived with Louie for a while on the square, on the southeast corner of it, third level up, that had a balcony overlooking the square. Louie would always be playing songs, mostly folk songs, late into the night, looking out over Mansfield. Although the band was pretty heavy rock we were in together at the time.

Whenever I am in Mansfield and drive by, I remember those times. I was there a few times. Louie was a great guy and I was thrilled to get to know him again in the past ten years. Had a lot of fun when he played Infernofest with his old bandmates and still blew a mean harp.
Thanks for posting

Yes, Louie was quite the entertainer. I remember we had a gig at a high school prom one time in Ft. Recoverery Ohio, and it came time for the prom queen dance, and Louie suggested we play Lay Lady Lay, by Bob Dylan. Well, that's what we played, much to the stern looks given to us by the school chaperones. Ha!

Did you live in the apartment with the portrait of Bob Dylan painted on the wall? If so I probably met you at some point. Everyone hung out there. I am sorry to hear about Louie. I remember him from the OSU branch and used to go to hear his ban at Greter's (sp?) Lake!

I have often thought about Jamie and the rest of the band. I lived in Mansfield at the time and we all hung out at Soprano's bar where The Music Explosion played frequently. Loved their music and they were a great bunch of guys. Jamie was very talented, as they all were, and he will be missed.
