Seems like there are two camps with MJ, one with no probs, and one with the beeps. Mine and my stepdaughters work great, no probs. My friend has one that used to beep but now no problems. FOr the price it's a great convenience. I hope they can fix the issues for other folks cos I really like it....

I hate to tell you but Magic Jack is not a scam.
As far as I'm concerned it works just as well as advertised.

I've used it few times since I got it a month ago.
1. Starbucks WiFi. Worked great.

2. Sketchy WiFi connection about 200 feet away, not so great.
3. Direct Comcast Connectionwith phone and with and with Mic. Great

My system lowend dualcore two year old laptop running Vista.
Of course I keep my laptop pretty clean from junk running in the background.

Well guess what ... Now they don't let u call to every number in the USA.. Now u have to get another service to get on conference calls initiated by magic jack and they will go through.. If not initiated by magic jack you won't get in they block the number. What happened to getting every number in the USA... RIP OFFFFF

I used the majic jack in Paris this past spring. I had no issues. It was easy to connect up and the folks I called in the US using the phone heard me clearly.

I just got magic jack, installed it and then wanted the vanity number. When it gave me the choices, I took one and then found out that because the area code they assigned me was different, my neighbors had to call me long distance. I finally found a way to chat online with a person and he was an idiot and I finally said I wanted to cancel the vanity one and so they gave me a new number with the right area code, but now they say they will not refund the vanity number charge (used less than 24 hours) and they will not cancel it either, planning on charging me every year for a number I can't use. I told them the explanation of how to choose a number was not clear and that it should not be continued being paid for every year. You cannot call these people and I don't know where these guys you chat online with are, but they certainly are not the brightest bulb in the pack. I will have to cancel my debit card by the end of my year so they can't continue to charge. Calls to other landlines are clear, but to cell phones, sounds like underwater. Dropped calls, people unable to hear me are regular problems in the 2 days I have used this. I will not renew after the year, it is a big disappointment

To me, this majic jack seems too good to be TRUE.....has anyone here had experience with bundleing cable, internet, and phone with Comcast? I would really like to hear what others think of Comcast's phone service.....

we have several magic jacks, and some of them are in different countries for my relatives to use and we don't have to pay any international phone calls or buy any phone card...it is just great...

MagicJacks work Fantastically well! We have 14 of them and are Amazed at how excellent they work. We have the strong feeling that most of the problems people have are due to..... the people themselves. For example, the lady who is all upset that her "vanity" number in another area code is long distance. Like that is MagicJack's fault!! She is not bright, shall we say.

If your computer is full of viruses, you're downloading and streaming music & videos on your network - all at the same time - and you expect your MagicJack call to be perfect.... You are not bright.

PS – Avoid all the hassles talked about above… of purchasing a MagicJack directly from their site…

Buy it at Best Buy, Walmart, or Walgreens. If you don’t like it, RETURN IT TO A STORE for a FULL CASH REFUND!

Hint: If Best Buy, etc. had a ton of them returned…. They would stop carrying this product in a heartbeat! It is an excellent product…. despite a few hick-ups (i.e. their unprofessional website, company policies, etc.)

Customer Service (via the live chat agent) has been slightly better than the average phone company..

It’s less than $1.60 per month people!

I have had magic jack for over a year now. After finally getting it to work, it worked ok for awhile except a few drop calls, sometimes people can not hear me on the other end, and my mj # is considered long distance by the loca telephone Co., although I have the same area code.

I have renewed my service in 9/09, and problems start to develop. I had contacted tech support and the problem had gotten worst after their assistance. Now when I get error message that states BROKEN STORAGE. I think the dongle is burned out.....
