I brought my family to The Catch Seafood Tavern in Port Jefferson on Thursday July 2 to celebrate a special ocassion. What a mistake. From the warm draught Stella Artois beer to the horrendous service it ruined the whole evening. It took over 40 minutes for 3 memebers of our party to receive their appetizers, when I asked for our water to be refilled I was asked if plastic cups were ok because they were out of glasses!(I reminded the waiter to fill a pitcher and then refill our glasses) at which point he just put it on the table. Our meals arrived well over an hour from our arrival and when I requested to speak with the manager the waiter suggested we speak with the owner(Mark)instead. I agreed and he said he would be out in 15 min. after 45 min. and severl requests that went ignored I just asked for the check. The meal was mediocre at best.(My soft shell crabs were dripping fry oil that I blotted with my napkin).Upon leaving the restaurant I was introduced o the manager(Kiernan) who was ver apologetic but by this time it was too little too late. Then to add insult to our debacle of a meal when a female memeber of our party left the ladys room and informed the manager and hostess that there was no water at one of the sinks she was told that that sink never had any!
I don't think this place should make long term plans.(It is only a few months old.) If this is how it will be, the only sign that you will see on the windows will be FOR RENT
