Obie is a good man and a conservative fiscally when push comes to shove. He is as good a democrat as you could find for this job as he is not of the "inherited wealth" clan.

He is, however, going to have a tough job as the budget in his department is going to, by necessity, be slashed.

Once again, Shumlin picks another person with NO experience to lead BGS. WT F.

This man is picking all of his friends to lead these important departments and they don't know the 1st thing about what these dept's even do.

But - hey I would take $96,000 grand a yr too if my friend offered it to me.

Now neither of the people I voted for are going to be my representative.

Carolyn Partridge is outstanding also. They worked together closely.

Carolyn is worthless. She does not support small business in Vermont. She votes 100% for social services and 100% against small business.

This is the Liberal in her or should I say SOCIALIST.

Shumlin did in fact hire all his friends, none of them have a clue about these positions.

Right on ...she voted against the $300 million VELCO line upgrade which dumped tens of millions of dollars right into Windham county. Why? because she felt it would be a vote in support of Yankee and in fact it had nothing to do with it.

Carolyn Partridge doesn't have a clue about what it takes to survive in Windham County. She has never had to do it for herself.

Uh, no. Wrong! It will make you VY employees & Entergy stockholders CRAAAZY! Or more so than you already are. Not so sure other NPPs will let you sit on a*s all day in control room screaming insults @ nonsupporters. You might actually have to work to get paid.

Hope your resumes are up to date. Good riddance & watch that door.

So he's a great legislature - what does he do when not a state representative? What is his work expeience outside the government?

The good news is he is so old he can't do this job long enough to qualify for a pension.

Apparently many posters do not know Mike at all. He manages part of a multi- million dollar company with international ties when not in session. He has been a democrat for sure but with a true Vermont independant voting record. His experience and knowledge would land him an extremely high profile and high paying job in the private sector. He is committed to the citizens of Vermont and good governence. So before you all start trashing someone, check the record. He will continue to serve Vermont with professionalism, dignity and transparency.

Are you denying that what I said is right? Why do you want to take up this gauntlet.

Obie has been in legislature since he was like 18 or 20, nearly 40 years. He is recognized & is on a first name basis w/nearly the entire state. He knows how to get the information he needs to accomplish his goals.

Many of the picks Shumlin made will merely oversee the depts they have been chosen to head. They will do the planning but serve w/many bright & accomplished dept members & employees to accomplish the goals of this administration-they are trusted leaders more than anything.

He is well respected & knows how to get things done. He is an achiever & accomplishes what he sets out to do. Many of those who have knowledge, education & credentials are mere bureaucrats who waste thir time, our money & look after their own interests.

It is clear Shumlin wants those who will produce results & meet his goals. Those who he has served with, he knows first hand & has seen what they can do. Having a rapport with those who he will need to communicate with goes a long way in accomplishing the needs of the state & residents.

No, I know nothing about him. He doesn't represent me, therefore it's not any of my business. That is why I asked. No mention of any other job was in the newspaper article. And as the legislature only meets part-time, I thought the question was valid. I would like someone who gets a job like this to have some experience in the real world and based on your answer it appears he does. Thank you.

I have known both of them since they were children and this is a politcal payoff if there ever was one. That being said...Obie deserves a reward for his long service in the legislature.

Oh, by the way, he doesn't believe we should shut down VY.
