It would also be good to have physicians there as they are the ones "overprescribing" these medications. On a daily basis many of the worst addicts are the ones who are simply taking the pills prescribed to them by a physician...

You make it sound like doctors are irresponsibly getting people hooked. In reality junkies come in and hassle doctors for prescriptions for narcotic drugs. And like all junkies, they lie and pull stunts to get more pills than they actually need - "I lost my vial of pills in a fire, I need more," etc. Some of them abuse the narcotics themselves; others test negative for narcotics in their bloodstream; these people are selling their pills to addicts. There is a whole black market in prescription narcotics.

And yes, too many doctors just write the prescriptions in order to get troublesome junkies out of their offices, instead of the more complex process of working pain sufferers off of drugs. They're known by junkies as drug docs.

BUFFALO — Ethel Johnson couldn’t get her prescription for pain medication filled fast enough. The 60-year-old Buffalo woman was hurting — but investigators said that was not the reason for the rush. Her pain pills were allegedly destined to be sold on the street...

Prescription drug abuse and doctors overprescribing them and killing people are a big problem, but the othe HUGE drug problem for years has been caused by the ones who have been trafficing in the BULK of it all into this country- the damn CIA! It's documented/admitted and the CIA has been caught Numerous times running heroin and cocaine. Some DEA agents have been dirty as well, but one of the several ex DEA agents turned whistleblower Michael Levine was on Geraldo a few years ago and tried to tell about how he was thwarted from busting up a major Columbian (and CIA) coke ring by 'higher ups' in the govt. Geraldo keep trying to deny what he was saying, that our govt. brings in much of what has plagued us for decades but We The Sheeple don't/won't wake up and stop it.

The DEA is a terrorist organization. Drugs may be bad, drug prohibition is a complete disaster.

-that's more to what I was referring to, the fact that so many old folks and others who have to take SOME medicines for their ailments (other than pain pills) but too often are told to take ones they don't need and/or wrong type and/or too high a dose and sometimes the maker screwed up and it should be recalled like many have been but not enough. So many get worse cuz of bad doctors, and besides, being in the medical field is still is called 'a practice'- cuz they never really get it right. Especially with SSRI drugs which cause many to get More mentally imbalanced and they're pushing em on younger kids.

The main thing is, this fed speaking in BF wont talk about the govt./CIA being THE source of the majority of the very worst narcotics coming into our country and wreaking havok since the 60's when they used our own dead serviceman's bodybags as mules for CIA heroin from indonesia. google 'Air America', the 'French Connection' was set up by the friggin CIA. One ex top cop of L.A. who saw the CIA's hand in the crack epidemic spoke out- www.copvcia.com There are whistleblowers who've seen it firsthand like Terry Reed the author of 'Compromised: Clinton Bush and the CIA' He says we should legalize heroin and cocaine just for a few months since that would put the CIA dirty $ laundering banks out of business and belly up!

The real truth is that pain is grossly under treated in the US thanks to DEA thuggery. Many legitimate patients cannot find doctors who will give them the doses they need for a decent quality of life. Doctors are afraid and DEA thugs have inserted themselves into the doctor patient relationship. Addiction may be a problem but the under treatment of pain is an even bigger problem. Several innocent doctors have been charges by overzealous prosecutors on flimsy 'evidence' supplied by DEA agents who deliberately deceived these doctors.

Well, during spring of this year I had a herniated disc, and then back surgery. They certainly gave me as much pain meds as I needed. Matter of fact, they gave me the opportunity to be astonished with the amounts I could have gotten.

FYI, maybe the first week of the injury they ramped up pain meds to me because i was in so much pain, after that first week I took no pain meds by mouth or anyway at all...had no pain meds what so ever after waking up from the operation, well maybe Alieve.

My back is in perfect shape right now and I am pain free...and I do heavy physical activity without no problem.

At my Doctors' office they are asking everybody to sign a release to investigate their drug history, to look for people who might abuse prescription drugs. I don't have a negative drug history, so I signed. I hope I did the right thing. They are trying to pinpoint who to trust with prescriptions and who to question. I feel sorry for someone who had a drug problem in the past but have recovered, for they may end up being left in pain when something goes wrong with their bodies. I hope not. I don't feel sorry for anyone who sells predcription drugs in the streets. I don't care what their excuses are, it is never justified.
