It's job security for the cops, lawyers and judges.

That is terrible, if they know he is liable to do it again why take the risk?

When's poor Michael Jacques getting out?

Even though he hasn't yet been convicted, I and the people of Vermont feel certain that he has already suffered quite enough for anything he might have done to Brooke Bennett.

Sexual compulsion doesn't go away. He can and likely he will do it again. People have a right to be concerned. Prison does not "cure" the criminally insane.

I do not feel protected... and I sure do not feel like the young girls in this area are being protected. This is frightening.

when to hells the courts going to smarten up,THERE SHOULD NEVER BE A REPEAT OFFENDER IN A CHILD MOLESTATION CASE OR ANY CASE SUCH AS THIS!!!! PERIOD, and further more there should be no convicted sexual offenders allowed in govterment local offices, schools or close to schools or and public area, i dont care if they were caught actually doing something to a minor or not, i believe if you have child porn or anything promoting it, it is just as bad and should be treated as such, the reason being if there was no need for the stuff, we wouldnt have the sick people publicising it, these crimes in my book are worse then murder for they effect peoples lives for many years to come and not just the victims,
come on judges and people lets buckle down and help save some children

THE JUDGES do not live or have any contact with the real world. they leave their little shielded castle drive their lexus or mercedes to their assingned parking spot indoors usually so they have no contact so far. next the rear[private]elevator to their private chamber[office lounge bath]till that degrading time they assend to the courtroom after the bailiff and county cop agree that the peasant and bad boys are under lock and key and have been read the riot act.the judge will look at the court officer twice with that arranged signal that its time to break because he has notting off. and delay means job security for all in his court. that is the key HIS COURT although outside over the door is WE THE PEOPLE. do not upset the apple cart or you will rot faster than your rights. best rule of thumb stay out of the jail and court system. you see the word system is for their use not yours.when the judge gives the nod just like judge hinkley in that squint westwood movie from the back window of the judges chamber the next sound was the gallows snapping the nexts of the brattleboro's cowboys. opps stike that

Hey Sonny,

Those cops, lawyers, and judges have kids and have the same concerns as any other parent. If you want things changed (maximum and minimal sentencing), than contact your legislature and have the laws changed. The three you just mentioned don't make the laws they just enforce them. And Sonny, you sound the like the type who wants individuals to stay in jail for life (not to say I'm against that for certain crimes such as this), but when the proposal is suggested to build more prisons, you will agree, but with the stipulation don't build it in my back yard and I'm not going to pay for it either. If you're going to talk the talk, then walk the walk.

If this guy has been in jail for 14 years and is 33 now...that would have made him 19 when he went in. So if his intended victims are 14 and older, does that really make him a high risk? I mean some 19 and 14 year olds co-exist in the same circles. It doesnt say he violently attacked the girl so I just don't get it. Why the 14 year sentence? Maybe I am reading the article wrong or something. If somebody knows more about the case, please enlighten me.

The guy shooting a deer is getting 10 years. Explain that one to me. The whole entire government needs to be impeached. And I am talking from the local government all the way to the top. Everyone wanted all the banks CEO's fired for screwing people, I say the government officials are no different. They are screwing us just as bad everyday. Why do they get away with it?

I believe that this man will not have the skills he needs to be sucessful in society. Most likely this is legal excersise required under the old conviction law. The probable outcome being re-incarcerated with sentencing under new laws and as a re-offender. VT didn't give long sentences for simple molestation in the past so he must have done something wrong.

Trust me, this loser is a piece of crap, before he went in to do his 14 years, he already had an extensive record so I believe that this scumbag will never be rehabbed. He is so hip to the laws, that he knew if he maxed out on his sentence, he would be released with no supervision so what does that tell you? That he plans on re-offending at some point because scum like this will never go straight. Of course when they are locked up, they tell their counselors or CO's that when they get out, they are going to stay out, but they are only fooling themselves, LE knows better. I think he should have been civilly committed to a secure facility when he gets out, but because VT does not have this law, he will be free to roam and rape again and coming to a hood near you and not one soul gets a chance to protest, his RIGHTS would be violated???? What about the decent, law-abiding citizens and their rights? What if a father catches him raping his daughter? Does he have to right to protect his daughter in whatever fashion he pleases?? Hell no! If he blows him away, the father gets a life sentence? Come on Vermont! You gave Michael Jacques a season's pass to continue his reign of rape by paroling him after only serving a small fraction of his sentence for kidnap and rape of a woman! You get more time in VT for stealing an apple then if you raped a child??? Mark my words, Scott French will re-offend and I say, probably in weeks. He, one time, got stopped twice in one day for driving without a license, flagrantly flipping the bird at LE, like the rules don't apply to him, this mind-set is what led him to be serving a 14 year sentence and he still has this mind-set. He refused that so-called SO treatment, he won't own up to who he is, a loser piece of crap that should not breathe the air around us, he should be rotting for life in a cell. Had VT been more harsh on sentencing for scum like him, maybe Michael Jacques would have gotten a LWPOP sentence meaning Brooke Bennett would be sitting in school right now instead of in a grave.

his rights and privacy is more important than you and everybody else because you have ruined your life because you spent years doing the right thing and don't have a reason to be helped in society fool. he needs all the wasted tax dollars of help but not to straighten him but to keep all the programs and state aid circulating or the funds will be cut.shame on you for not under standing how gov. works . shut up and pay up or they will send a coalition after you and make you look a bad person

he should at least be supervised! The corrections dept is making it sound like he just stole a car or something small like that, not a HIGH RISK SEXUAL OFFENDER OF CHILDREN! I cannot believe that they are just releasing him with no stipulations, on top of the fact that he hasnt completed any sexual offender classes. He just needs to register--which he probably will not do. I truely hope this man doesnt re-offend, but he most likely will. Some people just cannot function outside of prison. Being a parent, this situation scares me to death.
