Free rent such a deal how about free parking in all the town lots with a free fill-up of gas included for all the taxpayers.

Does this mean the HONEYMOON between ROGER AND TOM is over?

So these two birds represent the leadership on a rental agreement. One, stiffs the other by not paying rent and the other gets around to figuring it out a couple years later.
Another inspiring moment in the merger business.I'm laughing so hard my coffee is dribbling down my chin.

so even the Chamber wants out of bellows Falls. Unique but not surprising. In all my trips to N. H. I go right on through and never stop. So am I missing something or just a hunch I'm doing Ok.

Who is this MIke Smith?? Is he the genius opening up yet another "thriving" antique/consignment shop in the former Sam's. Last I knew the Waypoint Center was in the downtown.......what are they talking about?$300 for that space is a deal, plus it is a beautiful space.

The Chamber of Commerce....what a joke. If these guys had any pull at all, they would have attacked the zoning bylaws years ago and actually done something to help BF businesses. Instead, they put out a nice cartoon map every year and attempt to extort advertising dollars out of local businesses. Sorry, CoC, when you finally accomplish something, then maybe I'll contribute. Nice party you throw once a year, though. Oh, and PAY YOUR RENT.

Are we really surprised that the Chamber has not met its responsibilty to the town? After all, we elected a village president who had a conflict of interest.
He is receives money for the job & is sitting on the board that works jointly with the town. It is an absolute power corrupts play. He should only have done one job and not the other. If he wanted to be village president he should have left the chamber or visa-versa......not run for village president.
How dare this organization think itself above the law and not pay money due to the town. That is arrogance in highest form. Let the Chamber leave & pay in another building and bring in someone to that beautiful building who will pay rent & thrive in a business that brings in thousands of tourists in that area. How about a Starbucks? Or, since we are used to not receiving rent, how about a museum that brings all of the beautiful historical items from the 3rd floor of the library down to display for the tourists and locals who have never seen them.

Beautiful instance of a circular firing squad. Can I take a few shots too?

Time to shut down the chamber and just have the downtown development alliance?

Can we put some of the winter Rec Center staff in the Waypoint Center? Or how about using Multimodal Transportation Center staff there?

they won't come. There are many underutilized and empty spaces in Bellows Falls. This move will fill up a space. Pigeon park is out of the way, no passenger train service, no bocellis, no nothing. It was a pie in the sky idea to think that pigeon park would be the focus of the town and a total waste of taxper's money to build the "waypoint center." We could have one heck of a rec center with that money. Now at least the chamber will be visible.

Yes, great idea (rolls eyes). Just bring in someone who will pay rent. Snap your fingers and it will happen! YOU should be the chamber director. A museum for the tourists? You should watch the documentary "Roger and Me" by Michael Moore. Flint Michigan had museums for the tourists too.

Didn't the chamber vocally object to the crematorium because of its proximity to the "welcome center" of the town?

boo hoo...It's about time that Roger and the board looked at the word Commerce in the title of that organization and did their jobs. As for the Waypoint Center and 'information booth' it's not supposed to be a place to support the local businesses. AND IT WASN'T. Maybe now the C of C can meet the needs of the merchants in the Square and everywhere else they serve. As for BFFDA another boo hoo...what the heck do they do for the money the Town gives them. Besides an out of date brochure and some greenbacks that a lot of people don't know about what have they done to DEVELOP the downtown. But we're forced to keep them or we loose our DOWNTOWN DESIGNATION. There's so much potential here and too much politics and not enough motivation and labor and COMMON SENSE. Who suffers? BELLOWS FALLS THAT'S WHO...AS USUAL Thanks to all of you that can't get your stuff together. Maybe this move is a start for people to do what they're supposed to do in the first place. Roger can get out there and walk around and visit the merchants and see what he can do to help them. Maybe a MERCHANTS GROUP like in years past...or is that a conflict of interest? Shouldn't bother him, Or Tom. Let's try to get things done and stop thinking about yourselves and your feelings and politics. It's about the community STUPID! And if you can't do it, GET OUT

what else I agree/disagree with:

negativity about the potential of the Island is not productive and it is foolish. Anyone with any gray matter can see that we need to do that. Bocellis will return or someone else who can appeal to all of the community not just the elite who can afford a $10 hamburg

we can blame ourselves for the train leaving..the Town never reached out to them OVER THE DECADES and I know this for sure. What on god's green earth does WRJ have to offer that we didn't...NOTHING

the conflict of interest that Roger has on that board is so blaringly obvious yet this community seems to think conflict of interest is a joke and boards ignore it at THEIR WILL AND WHIM

time to fill the Waypoint Center with something wonderful! Time for our development director(?) to do something, anything to prove his worth. If he can't, he goes. Yet we hang on to people here good or bad like we can't survive without them. And we seem to hire the throw aways of every other community. How do we stop this trend in town and school.

How can we even consider merger when we can't even get one community to work? I'm so sick of the incompetence and foolishness and fraud that we are continually confronted with with these two boards. Yet we put up with it and no one squawks and no one even goes to the boards anymore to speak up. So they just merrily roll along and when anyone speaks up or when someone tried to speak up like Bergman or Falzo they discredited them and they were gone. Even Dennie was driven out, quiet but truthful and someone who believed in observing conflict of interest!!!!

WHY CAN'T WE SUCCEED????
NEGATIVITY,
POOR SELECTIONS ON THE BOARDS,
FEAR OF THE TRUTH,
EASILY INTIMIDATED BY UNIONS
AND LIES,
GOT ANY OTHER IDEAS?????
A LOT OF THE STUFF THAT COMES OUT ON THESE BLOGS
ALTHOUGH TODAY MOST OF IT WAS GOOD COMMENTARY AT LEAST SO FAR.

Bergmann discredited herself. Over and over again. She was voted out by her villagers 3 to 1. These local boards can't do whatever magic you want them to do. Sorry. Not their fault. They don't have the resources. What they can do is lower the tax rate enough to HELP stimulate the private sector.

Well now that the head of the "Turn BF into Stowe or Grafton" faction is off the island maybe we can put some businesses there. Maybe they will even pay rent or create a job or two.

Would like some Crematorium with your coffee?
