5,500 run in Long Island Marathon races

With overcast skies holding back the rain that drizzled down in the early morning, nearly 5,500 runners took to the pavement Sunday in the running of the 36th annual Long Island Marathon. via Newsday.com

Why can't they run down Ocean Parkway, by Jones Beach? This way they can run all they want, and half the county doesn't get shut down because of them...

This was ridiculous, I took a ride Sunday morning on the Northern State Pkwy. At every exit from Post to the Wantagh there was at least two state trooper cruisers and a county truck on every ramp onto and off of the pkwy. How much in overtime did this fiasco cost the taxpayers so 5,500 people could go for a jog. Hey county and stae people find a better venue.
