as a member of the EMS of my community, I am appauled that this happened. I hope they catch the people in question, they are convicted.... What is wrong with young people today? Nothing better to do, drugs? I have to begin questioning humanity...

His father was also high up with the Nassau County police department. First of all, the the NCPD ambulance looks similar to Bellmore-Merrick Amb. Corps,Wantagh Levittown Amb Corps and most FD ambulances.
At night in the dark traveling in opposite directions at a minimum of 40 miles per hour there is NO WAY they positively ID the ambulance as a PD ambulance AND have the time AND precise accuracy to throw a LOG threw a window of a vehicle traveling the other direction.
MY POINT IS IT DID NOT HAPPEN THAT WAY!
I am not justifying anything just evaluating the stated sequence of events logically.

Problems like this don't happen in the midwest, out here in the country if a car passes you by you not only know who's driving it but also who the parents are and what church the attend on Sunday mornings.........Welcome to the living in the city!

I want to see them in the meat wagon from the coroners office. You do this to a PD ambulance what would you do to me? But something doesnt sound quite right

I drove a volunteer ambulance in Queens last Friday, for a six hour shift, with the windows open. I do this for the same reasons other posters have already stated, namely, to listen for other emergency vehicles (because with the radios, heater and my partner's voice, I wouldn't be able to hear anything outside with the windows closed) as well as the fresh air. I've been doing this for a very long time, and while my ambulance corps doesn't require you to drive with the windows open, we're trained that way, for the reasons above. Besides, it's really just common sense.
