So, tell me Newsday, which Bellmore man was killed? Was it Jaclyn? Prolly not, sounds like a woman. Was it the unidentified 24yo man who was treated for non life threatening injuries? Well, he's a man, but he's still alive? I'm just so confused....

ah, I see it's been fixed. The woman was the one killed. Not to make light of a tragedy, but maybe sentence #2 should be re-written on Rev3.

alright everybody i was there when it happened.. to clear everything up heres wat went on: The 23yo woman was killed when she turned out of the bellmore train station parking lot. She turned onto sunrise hwy east, but she was going west, against traffic. The reason for this was because the street she was going to is a little bit west of the parking lot turn, so to make it quicker, the woman went west, on sunrise hwy east to go down the street. Doing this, a volkswagon, heading east, hit the woman who was headed west, but on the volkswagons side of the street which killed her in the accident

First may I please offer my condolences to this young lady’s family.
I am not making light of this tragedy; however, Newsday’s reporters need a lesson in English 101 and maybe spell/grammar check on their computers.

Newsday’s Article just as it appears on line.

A Bellmore woman was killed early today in a two-vehicle crash along Sunrise Highway.

Jaclyn Amiel, 23, was driving her 1991 Honda car west on the highway about 12:35 a.m. when she struck trying to make a left turn at Thomas Place. When Amiel attempted to make the turn, she drove into the path of eastbound 2005 Volkswagen car driven by an unidentified 24-year-old man.

The man, who was treated at an area hospital, was not charged in the crash.

My corrected version using only the information provided by Newsday…

Jaclyn Amiel, 23 was killed today in a 2 vehicle accident on Sunrise Highway.
She was driving her 1991 Honda (yes Newsday we know it’s a car…well maybe you think it’s a bicycle LOL) westbound about 12:35 A.M. Amiel was attempting to make a left hand turn at Thomas Place when she drove into the path of an eastbound 2005 Volkswagen.(Yes, Newsday, I believe this is a car also…but wait maybe you think it’s a motorcycle).
The Volkswagen was driven by an unidentified 24 year old male (now, I’m new to NY and Newsday, but from some of the posts, this unidentified male must have a name that would clearly identify his ethnicity or cultural background…that’s against Newsday’s policy, CORRECT?), who was treated for non-life threatening injuries at an area hospital. There are no charges pending.

the most important issue here is that jackie amiel was killed in a tragic accident. to know jackie was to like her! i haven't seen her in a few years and if it hadn't been for this horrible accident, thinking about her would have made me smile.

I did not know Jaclyn personally, but she is the daughter of my Aunt's husband. For you people to bash the newspaper on a tragic accident like this totally angers me. Nobody is perfect, but obviously the people making stupid posts on the grammer and such are. You have nothing else better to do than correct everybody else. Why don't you try having sympathy for the family, instead of sending posts like you have. What if this was your own family member? You wouldn't think twice about this.
Aunt Jeanine, Marco, Lauren and Micheal, I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you at this time. Just know that she's in God's hands now. Rest in Peace Jaclyn.
