Very brief Wiki page for Miranda Martino:

Miranda Martino (born 29 October 1933) is an Italian singer and actress.

Life and career

Born in Moggio Udinese from Neapolitan parents, Martino started her career as singer in the 1956.[1] In 1957 she debuted at the Festival di Napoli and in 1959 she made her first appearance at the Sanremo Music Festival, with the song La vita mi ha dato solo te.[1] In the same year she obtained her first commercial success with the song "Stasera tornerò",[1] which ranked 11 in the Italian Hit Parade.[2] Then she entered the two following editions of the Festival di Sanremo and in 1961 three songs of her entered the Top Ten ("Erano nuvole", "Frenesia" and "Serenatella c'o sì e c'o no").[2] In 1963 she obtained a critical and commercial success with the album Napoli, in which she covered twelve canzoni napoletane re-arranged by Ennio Morricone.[1] In 1965 she made her theatrical debut and from then she focused her career on acting, on stage and, less profilically, on film.[1]

In her book, and although the online translation is very rough (but it's the best I can do not knowing Italian), Miranda Martino shares something of experiencing an alcoholic blackout early in her career during an escapade with a man where she is unwittingly photographed. The incident brought much public shame, particularly during that time period and may have caused irreparable harm to her career.

Nowadays such a thing might be considered a publicity stunt, but it sounds quite genuine in the book, and may in part explain her brief Wiki page. Because she definitely seems to sing as well and have as much magnitude and appeal as Mina (who went on to be quite famous).

Another crazy coincidence...I've always thought Michele Torr looks like the Pink Panther when walking to the microphone to sing "Ce Soir Je T'Attendais" in a certain video, and now this:

Here's another video of it:

Funny...compare the twist of Marinda Martino with Bridget Bardot (Dalida has a funny one too--though I'm thinking Marinda's is best of all):

Spoke at last Tucson City Council on public safety and AA. They omitted public comment from their broadcast on cable television and online on the city webpage. However, the audio is available on the city webpage; I'm the second to last person to speak. In the small chance anyone comes along and reads this thread they might find it interesting enough to hear.

Tell me when this thread is updated:
