Homeowners in Farmer City say petty crime is on the rise. They worry those out to keep them safe are actually adding to the problem.

I live in Farmer City and feel very safe.
I would like to know,
How many cars have been broken into, was the car unlocked?? How many calls to police?
How many burglaries? Was the house unlocked? What was taken? How many calls to police?
Did Mr Ziegler call the police when the bombs went off? How many neighbors called to report it at the time the bomb went off? It sounds like there was no damage at all!! So what is Mr Zieglers gripe?
If the crime is not reported for 12 or more hours after it happened, what is the rush to suddenly get police action? What does the person reporting the crime think the police can do, if there are no witnesses?
When reporters get these kind of statements, why don't they ask the tough questions of the person reporting it? Is it even realy news?
How about the reporter saying, lock your house and cars. Don't leave valuables in sight. Use common sense people, especially reporters.

I also live in Farmer City and completely agree with Mr. Ziegler. I had my house broke into three times. Called the police all three times. I was told to get a better door, then I'd have no problems. I rent, I can't just go replacing stuff, that's why I rent. If the police know that there has been trouble in the area how about patrol that area rather than cruising Main St. or parking out on 54 towards Bellflower. I know they need to be able to write tickets, but I need to be able to sleep and not get my house broke into while I'm sleeping. It's ridiculous that citizens who live in the neighborhood also just so happen to not notice someone entering your house through a window that's been busted. I know people don't like to get involved, but if one person would just speak up this would stop happening all over town. I know it must just be on this side of town because several of my neighbors have experienced the same problems. So why not patrol this side of town more (I've lived in Farmer City 23 years), but I've only seen a cop on this side of town 3 times and 2 of those times was because he was at HUCKS!!!
