I am a 44 year old (Christian) white male born and raised in Madison Park, Seattle. What strikes me as I read these posts is that most of us lead sheltered lives and develop our opinions through the media as well as through friends and family around us. On the other side of the world are Muslim boys and girls, men and women, who also lead sheltered lives and develop opinions through the media, family and friends. They feel that they are just victims and we are terrorists out to destroy them, while we feel the same way about them.

After spending several years living among Muslims in the UK, I realized that more than 99% of Muslims are aghast at the "terrorist" actions of less than 1% of the Muslim population (at least in the UK) the same way that most Americans are aghast at the less than 1% of Americans that feel the 1995 Oklahoma Bombing was justified. Hopefully.

The lovely book the Qur'an no more preaches violence than does our beloved Bible. It is time for us to face some of our own biases if we are to effectively engage in dialogue with those that have beliefs different than ourselves.

sounds like a page from a neil gaiman novel. read up on what benjamin franklin wrote about jews. he even used it as a speech. read what Benjamin Freedman said in a speech in 1961. Just cause some famous person says something doesn't mean its right. Mel gibson comes to mind.

If I were the prseident. I would end all wars right now, and try to make peace. As a christian, I am opposed to war. War is evil. War is hell. I think we should balance the budget fix our own countries problems, and make peace with all. We were hoping that Obama would end the wars as he promised. Thats what he promised. That all changed when after he met with the Bilderbergs on election night.
All the hope ended as soon as he got elected. Now we are worse off than when we had Bush. We vote one way, but they don't listen to us, and they do what ever they want. Lies, lies, lies. I think the more natural tendency of humans is to join a group and fight other groups and people who are not like us. I myself, just naturally, have always welcomed diversity. The people who don't are the cause of all the killing and fighting. Our is and will contiue to be the most powerful country in the world because we embrace diversity and do not discriminate, Think of how much more powerful our militaty would be if the muslim soldiers in our army were treated with the respect they deserve. I think some our soldiers promote the hatred of muslims becasue it helps them dehumanize the enemy. Yet this is wrong. Their (our) enemy is not islam or muslim it is those who seek power by the killing of anyone by any means. These we (every one of all races, religion) can all call terrorists and hate with all our hearts.
