I agree with Dan. When I started smoking back in the 80's, it was all about Marb miles and Camel bucks. The gov didn't seem to mind then. Now that 1 out of 5 people in this country is hooked on this addictive chemical, they jack up the tax. It's alot like dealing drugs if you think about it. The first one is free, but once they've got you it's time to pay. They have no intention of getting people to quit. Why don't they excessivly tax fast food? It's not chemically addictive. People would eat something else.

The proposed tax that will take effect on Sept 1 is suppose to be kind of like a health tax, meaning your paying for increase the health risk to other people for your smoking. Well, if this is the case then we should be able to smoke anywhere, right, wrong. Jim Doyle, you suck as our governor and taxes have gone up on everything, from hunting to license plates. Guarantee, you will not be governor the next go around. How much are you skimming off the top Doyle? Your pockets are full already, let the next politician have some of our money. Have you noticed that the Midwest is becoming an expensive place to live, businesses and people are moving, wake up!!!

THE 4TH OF JULY Have you ever wondered what happened to the 56 men who signed the Declaration of Independence? Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured. Nine of the 56 fought and died from wounds or hardships of the Revolutionary War. They signed and they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor. What kind of men were they? Twenty-four were lawyers and jurists. Eleven were merchants, nine were farmers and large plantation owners; men of means, well educated, but they signed the Declaration of Independence knowing full well that the penalty would be death if they were captured. Carter Braxton of Virginia, a wealthy planter and trader, saw his ships swept from the seas by the British Navy. He sold his home and properties to pay his debts, and died in rags. Thomas McKeam was so hounded by the British that he was forced to move his family almost constantly. He served in the Congress without pay, and his family was kept in hiding. His possessions were taken from him, and poverty was his reward. Vandals or soldiers looted the properties of Dillery, Hall, Clymer, Walton, Gwinnett, Heyward, Ruttledge, and Middleton. At the battle of Yorktown, Thomas Nelson, Jr., noted that the British General Cornwallis had taken over the Nelson home for his headquarters. He quietly urged General George Washington to open fire. The home was destroyed, and Nelson died bankrupt. Francis Lewis had his home and properties destroyed. The enemy jailed his wife, and she died within a few months. John Hart was driven from his wife's bedside as she was dying. Their 13 children fled for their lives. His fields and his gristmill were laid to waste. For more than a year he lived in forests and caves, returning home to find his wife dead and his children vanished. Some of us take these liberties so much for granted, but we shouldn't. |

I agree with spurs09..however that is only one of a million of the "I dont understand what the F&^%.. happened to our country and why the majority of citizens are sheep? But as for this topic, what is it going to take for everyone to stand up and become"The Revolution" ...this country needs to plow itself into the ocean and rebuild our society with rules and regulations that make sense. Only the rich people dont care about all these taxes, charges, sur-charges, added fees...and all the other BS money making schemes the government places on our shoulders. Get rid of war, military(without a military worldwide) totally uncalled for, and educate people, and push people to use the talents they have instead of sitting on welfare, doing drugs and getting dumber and dumber each and every year. None of this society makes any sense at all. So in the short of it... they will keep raising taxes, keep increasing you cigarette prices and liquor prices and keep drugs illegal and keep throwing everyone in prison. Hey welcome to the real world. And the best thing people..no matter what anyone thinks NOT one of us can do anything about it. NOT anyone!!! Truth hurts but hey thats what it is. Unless the government falls and a real system is put in place(when hell freezes over) live with it!! Support your local congressman,support our president..lol
