This is more than just sad it's really outragous, there is no reason that bullying should be tollerated one bit in schools. In my opinion schools should adopt a one strike policy where you get the one warning and maybe even suspended for 2 days and then the next time your expelled for the semester. That might catch some peoples attention and send a message to the kids that this kind of activity will not be tollerated. School should be a safe evironment where they can go and work on their studies without fear of someone threatening them or harassing them throughout the day. How many suicides does it take?

I totally agree James. My son was bullied in grade school. To make certain, he was not the one starting the issue... I dropped him off & drove around the block & came back to watch what was going on.
My son was playing (alone) in the sand box, after a while several boys came over & started w/name calling then sand throwing & finally the leader of the bunch grabbed my son's hand & bit him.
I went running over to see the damage (of course the bullies ran off) & when I pulled my son's winter glove off, his thumb was bleeding.
I marched son & myself into school & did a "show an tell" w/his teacher.
The teachers response: "Would you like to stay in from recess, so they can't pick on you? Would that make you feel better?"
I asked the teacher IF punishing my child would affect the bullying situation?
Long story short, my son continued to be bullied.
I wish the bulliers could see my son now & try to throw sand, lol.(Altho, he would talk & make them feel low, he could very well kick their fannies.)
He now lives in a mansion, owns tons of businesses & travels all over. I'm one proud mom.
But, the bullies did not make him tough, he had good strengths & values inside.
Not all turn out so well.
