My wife and I recently moved to Cape Coral Florida from Peoria. We lived in Peoria for almost 12 years. We have called five other cities/towns home. We never referred to Peoria as home. It is a place to exist. The whole city is like living in the projects. It is a welfare city on steroids.
Peoria is run like a boys club not a business. Their priorities are upside down. Taxpayer funds are given away for pet projects and basic services are secondary.
Peoria has major gang and drug problems. Crime is rampant all over the city. My wife would not go to the mall by herself in the day time. She would not consider going at all after dark. Robberies are happening all over town from gas stations to Walgreens parking lots. You are not safe anywhere.
There are shooting every week and the murders are up.
The Mayor wants Peoria to be a test city for the carrying of concealed firearms in Illinois and has publicly said so. Crime is out of control and just this past week the fools on the council cut the Police dept. by 17 officers and are not replacing another 20 that are retiring. They have shut down their gang unit and will no longer participate in the multi-county drug enforcement group that has been very effective in investigating and prosecuting drug crimes. A thinking man would have to ask if the council is benefiting from the gangs and drugs.
More important to the city fathers is a multimillion dollar hotel in downtown Peoria. Also a museum which the idiots think will get half a million visitors a year. Actual numbers will be 175,000 to 200,000 if they are very lucky.
Taxes are ridiculous and going up yearly. There is a fee charged for everything. Garbage fee, water tax fee, sewer fees and the taxes keep going up.
The school district (district 150) is as poor a quality school system as there is anywhere in an industrialized nation. The leadership is bottom of the barrel. People are fleeing the City of Peoria for surrounding towns with low crime and great school systems.
Peoria is the most anti business city we have ever lived in. Why anyone would want to start a business there is beyond me.
We are so happy to have moved our business and our family out of Peoria and out of Illinois.

Good for you. It is so sad no one will do anything to fix this town.
It can still be fixed, but it wont.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Virgo

At some point today you'll enjoy working on a pastime or getting together with a group of kindred spirits. This will help you to relax and remind you that there's much more to life than mundane chores and a need to pay the bills. A friend is full of quiet commonsense that's well worth listening to, even if it won't set the world alight.
