I have lived in Belleview for 4 years and have witnessed what the mayor and her city council have or are trying to do to this small village.
I believe that both the mayor and the city council are trying to govern Belleview as if it were a giant metropolis or at least in their eyes a suburb of The Villages. The fact is neither the residents or the county want Belleview to become anymore than what it already is and that is a cheap zip code for the service workers of The Villages and Ocala. There is no real reason for having a full-time Mayor, Planning Director, or a City Manager. The money, time, and energy spent on these positions or in support of these positions can better be used to support the community in forms of infrastructure (ie; sidewalks, paved roads, local school districts, or maybe just lower the cost of the outragous priced city water and sewer. All it takes to get elected to the city council or Mayor is a matter of 175 votes and that is with a population of some 4,000 people. So, basically to answer your question the only standard to being elected Mayor of the City of Belleview is to know about 200 people and convince them to vote for you. |

In reguards to trash removal 3x's per week rather then have the belleview residents pay more becausee of the increase for fuel!
Trash removal should be 1 time aweek not 3 |

Being a Belleview Homeowner, I do not have any problem with a minor rate increase for garbage pickup. I would rather pay a little more and have a tidy neighborhood... BUT, they could cut the household refuse pickup back to just One day a week and keep the yard waste to just one or two days per month (not each and every Wednesday), if it was that big of an issue.
I would however LOVE to see the city start getting after homeowners about their LAWNS. No need for grass to be knee high. I would LOVE to see speed limits dropped and ENFORCED in all the neighborhoods too. Speeding and reckless disregard for others is rampant, especially when so many children walk to and from the elementary school and parks! |

you are right on that, the speed limits are crazy in some of the neighborhoods. as far as the grass. call code enforcement. we recently had an issue with a neighbor that would not take their trash out. i am talking bags and bags of it. finally dogs came and the next thing i know its in my yard! grrr. code enforcement took care of that! |
