The LIRR is stating that graffiti in the area & a gate that was open .... LIRR are we going to have another situation of kids playing on the tracks & getting killed. When the childs gets killed or seriously hurt LIRR will say they can't man or secure all areas of the tracks ... LIRR step up to the plate & take ownership ... I think LIRR management should read the book Broken Windows Broken Business

Good comment
"I think LIRR management should read the book Broken Windows Broken Business"
However you should include the Floral Park Police Department and the Floral Park Village Board.
Every kid in the village knows the FPPD will not patrol behind the school.

Short of putting up a 20 foot concrete wall you will never keep kids off the tracks 100%. When I was a kid we couldn't wait to play on the tracks.
PARENTS need to teach and watch their children and not delegate it to others and then get their panties in an uproar when something bad happens.

I live right down the street from where this happened. Just looking at the dilapidated condition of the tracks, station, etc it's amazing something like this hasnt happened before. As for the claim by L.I.R.R. that someone deliberately threw the metal onto school grounds, I say BULLSHI-! You (L.I.R.R.) just don't want to take responsibility for the piece of shi- railroad you run.

Blame the LIRR sure, How about tending to your kids in FP. The graffiti and such didn't come from RR workers, and I'm sure some kid was throwing things and it landed on the field. If you live in that area then your kid knows who did it or did it themselves. Or did someone from the next town come to paint your town. Geez

The records needs to be checked as to who was there first. If the school came 2nd, they should not have placed the fence so close to the tracks that debris could fly over the fence and strike any child playing close by. If the LIRR came 2nd, and it can't be moved, they should pay for the instalation of a new fence.

The LIRR really are a bunch of clowns.

They take responsibility for nothing and when they get critisism in this forum they do their best to deflect blame with personal attacks on their own customers or by use of all manner of excuses.

They really have no self respect.

Yet another mess, yet another incident.

And we Long Islanders are resigned to it being inefficient, tardy and hazardous. You'd think this was the USSR.

Before my last posting, I did not read the above.

And here it is!

Deflect blame. It is never the fault of the LIRR.

If you're late, drive instead. If your kid is in danger, don't let him near the LIRR.

This is a never ending joke.

Like all the gap issues right, Look before you leap. All these gap issues. Its people who dont watch what they are doing. Lets sue the railroad cause my dumb a@# fell between the train and platform. if it were a pile of dog dung you would not step in it or would yea. While we are talking about it. I commute every day on the LIRR. all these new trains are getting trashed already cause LI's are disrespectful slobs. a nice new million dollar train car and people spill food coffee all over the seats put there feet up spit on the floor, but quick to blame the lirr. Just remember one thing all the law suits and damage done is paid for by our tax dollars.

my mom retired two years ago so maybe she held the LIRR together. lol. no she was a software programmer or it might have been software tester for the software they got from other companies in order to double check it.

This cr@p is turning into tired cliche. You know that, don't you?

Is there anything that IS the fault of the LIRR or is the system perfect?

Your trains are late. They are dangerous. There is no communication and no refunds are given. Please tell us why.

It's not the gap. No one has mentioned the gap.

It is tardiness, inefficiency, high cost, lack of communication and obsolesence.

You can try do dodge what people are saying all you want. The truth is the LIRR is expensive, inefficient and costly.

There was no mention of the gap. But true to form you try to side-step and place blame.

On top of all of the things that make the LIRR awful is that when services are not rendered (trains so late that appoinments are missed, or breakdowns) no refunds are given. This is theft.

Explain why no refunds are given? And, yes, there ARE rail systems that do give them. So please do not use the childish response of "other trains systems don't." BritRail, France's RER and SNCF, Luxembourg's CFL and Germany's DB all give them.

Everyone knows it was a set up by the people who oppose the third track. Funny how in all these years, this is the FIRST time we've ever heard of anything like this AND how coincidental that it's right in the area where the new track installation is to begin. Take off your blindfolds.

Take an earlier train, If you travel west from LI to NYC in the am. You know that you need to leave early to beat the traffic or you will be late. If you take a 7am train to the city and it gets you there late take the 645 train. As far as cost and such people destroy these brand new trains and that is what cost. Lawsuits from gap injuries to ripped clothing. Here is a good one the flood that halted the subway during that heavy rain. Some of cause was AMnew york papers stuck in all the subway drains from slobs throwing garbage on the tracks. Bottom line is if you look at the root of any of the issues brought up it comes down to the people that use the system. Some is the system, that the new president seems to be looking to address. Just remeber when you see someone putting there feet on the seats, ripping the seats throwing garbage on the floor We all pay for that.

LMFAO!!!

You do know that you prove my point, right?

"Take an earlier train?" I other words, don't believe the schedule. Seeing as the LIRR is a cr@p shoot, you'd better not go by the arrival times that we ourselves publish!

Mister, you have not self respect.

What that your often late to work because you need to take an earlier train. Dude its just lik traffic stuff happens, Trains are late pkys have accidents. Its not a perfect world. the trains are not that far off, or you wouldn't take them. Better to be on a train then fighting with some road rage nut on the side of the pky,.
