Bring back the Unity Party ...who called for audits of school district years ago.... the FP school district and village can operate at 10 -15 % less ... that means less taxes , not more.

Until Souzzi showed up the one party - Republican rule ruined Nassau County and the same is true for the Citizens party in FP.

As a taxpayer in Floral Park, I know Dr. McDonald. He did a fine job leading our school district for many many years. He was a dedicated professional.
It appears he requested salary increases of 9%(or more), and the school board granted his requests (it appears). It seems the school board was less than open and forthcoming when it granted these salary increases. It seems the school board should be held accountable for this overwhelmingly generous salary increases. They are elected positions.
McDonald was very rarely in his office. You could find him at many taverns in town though

That's a fact. I wonder how much of school taxes went towards refreshments at Trinity's for McDonald, Fowler, and company.

For two decades the Superintendent's salary was listed as a lump sum item with other district employees on our published budget. When questions were asked at the budget meeting the answer was given that they do not discuss particular personnel except in executive session.

The timing of this discovery helps with so many of us having to move because we can not afford tax increases on our fixed incomes.

Has anyone investigated the expense accounts?

. Conferences (golf outings)

.?

Was there any conflict of interest between any former FPBSD Presidents and the Superintendent?

Knowing the people involved on the school board, I would be shocked if there were any improper relationships that would cloud their thinking.

However, a school board can become too chummy with the Superintendent, which is what I believe happened here.

FP has a history of politicians doing what they want, when they want. They are largely effective so the public allows it. Many remember the pool building, which the public was overwhelmingly against. It got voted down, then the town built it anyway, having the old building condemned. It's a beuatiful building, purportedly self funded, and no one complains.

I am pretty certain that hiding the superintendent perks and raises was deliberate on the part of Fowler, Cheng before him (both attorneys) and supported by the board as a nefarious way not to publicize increases in his compensation.

Roslyn just turns out dirty joos. Thankfully Floral Park has no bl/acks or hispanics/ and few to no dirty joooowwwws. You may catch a chin/k or shid/bag every now and again. This limits the stabbings and baby momma fights. FP is actually a way better town than most in LI. At least they know how to keep them dirty joooows and other minorities out.

I credit that to the fact it's 99% white people.

And I heard that for years this Dr. McDonald personally tossed any jooows, bla/cks, his/spanics/, sh/ed/bags etc who attempted to register for school in Floral Park, right out of the building.

And you really can't put a price tag on that kind of dedication. I say the man deserves a raise.

Job well done Big Mac!

i agree with greg. fp is surrounded by crap but it is still 'a great place to live'. credit that to the school district (the hs is another topic). school district scores just as high as the jooooo SD's without the jooos/as1ans/ingins. i am not a fan of Dr Mac. I think he is a POS, but lets not try to make a scandal out of nothing. he got paid well for a job well done. if 99% of the people in this countrys jobs were put under the microscope someone somewhere would have a problem with something. people always need something to complain about.

do you really have anything to complain about? its one of the smaller communities on LI, people are going to know people. people are going to get jobs from/for people they know. thats the way the world works. Go live in NHP (greater nhp) or elmont if you dont want small town politics.
i dont always agree with what goes on in town all the time but if Dr M is the highlight of the gateway this week then i think everything is all right.

As a product of the Floral Park school systems, there is one thing I was taught there, at a very early age, to be undeniably true:
juhhhhhhhoooowwwwwwz su/hhhhkkkkk.

and neeee/garrrrrssss too.

The go...00k is only good for delivery and the sheeeeeeet////b/a/g is the dirtiest of all.

Thankfully, FP taught me that so long ago and as I have traveled the world over these years I have come to realize it is 100% true.

Thanks you Dr. MacDonald, who before becoming the superintendent was my science teacher. You are the best.

The problem with those involved in government, large and small is tha they see the huge budgets and think, "what's another few thousand in the scheme of things". If McDonald's salary and perks weren't an issue, why not fully disclose them or make the public aware they were being considered from the get go.

When the school board can be seen in public downing drinks with the superintendent at any number of local bars, they are likely too close to McDonald, and not close enough to the public they serve.

in theory you are probably are right, these checks and balances cant work if people are too close. i just dont think this system (fpbs) is broken. spending pp is very low and the grades are at the top of the county. what more can you ask for? Stop complaining about this. Look at the scores and spending of other all white christian areas (apples v. apples)in nassau county and then get back to me. I think i hear a plane flying overhead, why dont you complain about that. oh wait....

Too bad they had to give Doc money behind closed doors. Typical in FP.
I'm glad they were called out. Nw give the $ back and refigure his pension.

Nobody on this thread has mentioned Doc has the third highest pension in NYS! Nt bad for a school district with only 2 elementary schools.

FP IS a great town, with good people. However, we both know that by the time an issue is made public our politicians have already come to decision as to how they are going to handle it.

I have no doubt that the school board tried to bury an unpoopular raise and perks for McDonald. Also, Dave Fowler is a good guy - great guy actually.

When I read the Gateway front page situations like the one listed above immediately came to mind. How can we tax payers request audits to go back as far as the statute of limitation will allow? Many small line items eventually add up to tens of thousands over a decade or two.

The Gateway might as well be published by the Mayor's office. IT has always been the mouthpiece of FP government. Not to mention that Ray Fox should still be writing the sports news. He did a great job.
