Amazed that you would select Arturos as one of your favotites. Grossly overpriced , with misplaced lllusions of being sophisticated. Had the worst osso buco imaginable, made with tomato sauce instead of a brown gravy. Didn't even give a small fork to get to the bone marrow. The meat was tough and inedible. Table clothe were worn and os had a hole in it. Silverware was of the institutional kind and the bread was not crusty. All of this at ridiculously high prices. What a disaster

I am amazed that Caracalla is included on this list of favorite Italian restaurants. We ate there a few years ago on a Saturday night-the only "better" Italian restaurant that had a table for 6 people that evening on short notice (a clue, perhaps). I ordered the veal chop-it was very tough and not edible, not to mention expensive. I asked the waiter to take it back and the next thing I know the chef and host descended on our table, insinuating that I did not know what a veal chop should taste like. There were no apologies-just attitude. I ordered a different dish and,of course, it came just as every one else at our table was finishing their entrees. There was no offer of a glass of wine, or dessert-nothing. This experience causes me to question Newsday's favorite restaurant choices.
