Interim sheriff takes oath today

Interim Lincoln County Sheriff Kent Hanshew has just 10 months to leave his footprint on the department, but he says that is not what's most important.

To imply that a man is acting inappropriately with teenage girls is a bit too much. They may have been his girls, sisters, or nieces. Two of my brothers were already out of the military when I was born and I loved going places with them. There will always be people who assume the worst.

Why would someone assume something like this of our acting sheriff? Why would someone say this? I'm confused. Where did this come from?

They would of been teenagers at time of this absurd story. People should remember not to say such slanderous comments. IP addresses can be sought from these forums by use of subpoena. So your anonymity on goes so far. If someone can prove they have suffered damages by a post, you may find yourself in civil court.

I agree. I would and have trusted my at the time teenage daughter now grown daughter with kent at any time . He helped make my daughter a better person for having spent time with him and many others at LCSD.

Looks like the "bad apples" are beginning to weed themselves out. "Mr Cottle Boy" himself Sgt. James Hoyt fired from the Sheriff's Dept. What a surprise this is. Anyone want to elaborate why?

In James case, he’s a good deputy. He was placed under pressure from the interim regime. The department under the appointed sheriff fell apart. You should hear what was being said during the election. The elected SHERIFF has a lot of work ahead of him, he will be the saving grace to the department.

Someone should ask what the "interim" sheriff did with the surplus budget that was left in his charge...

Maybe the money went to pay the interim sheriff, they hired the elected one BEFORE he took office and all the other's vacation etc. It is sad that people in power can't take it when someone is good at their job and because they backed someone else in the election they are pressured until they break. I don't think it will be the new one saving grace.
