I used to work with Tony's father, Dan, and I have never known a more patient, kind or loving parent to their children. This is a genuinely good family and it is so sad that this happened. No way, no how did Tony set out to deliberately harm anyone. And anyone who has ever been to State College knows about the partying that happens in this town. Every single weekend, DUI's abound. For each person caught, how many get away with it? And for each person who does it, how many Tony's are there who not only get busted, but take others down with them?

He deserves leniency because this was an accident. He should be sentenced for the DUI like a person who hit a tree or building. The fact that he hit people is very sad, but extending prison time because of that will not do anyone any good. His life is essentially over already. Have mercy!!

It's just too bad that Anthony couldn't have just crashed into a tree and died. He would have saved two extra family and friens, pointless pain and suffering. I guess Dan should have tought his son not to drink and drive, don't you think? My friend was Rick Smith, his face was pealed off during the incident, and was smeared down the road about 160 feet to his death.

So, I have no pitty or mercy for Anthony. An eye for an eye, now, that's true justice. Anthony got away with murder on this one. Though he has six years now, to make some new and special friends behind bars in State Lockup. That makes me feel a bit better... Knowing that...

I have 2 children that are college age and 2 in high school. Their father and I have talked to them about every dangerous situation we can think of. We have used incidences like this one as teachable moments to discuss with them about the dangers of drinking and driving. I believe we have given them the tools to make good decisions. Am I so naive to think .. they could NOT ever make the same mistake as Mr. Tony Torsell? No. All you self righteous people who are out there judging I hope no one you love ever makes a poor decision. For obviously, they won't have your support.

I had the opportunity to meet Tony while in Prison and from a brief talk and greeting I could tell how good of a person he is. This doesn't mistake the fact he made a wrong decision that night. Hate is all to consuming and exhausting.
