Louisville hiring expected to be flat in 2Q

Louisville-area employers expect to hire at a slow pace during the second quarter of 2008, according to the latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.
Employers are less optimistic about hiring activity as compared to one year ago, when 20 percent of companies surveyed planned to increase staff levels and 7 percent expected to cut payrolls

Just curious... is this forcast in any way connected to the BRAC loss of the US Army Armor School at Ft Knox?

Not sure what effect that the BRAC actions had on the local economy. However, I must say that the local economy here pretty much consists of a lot of low wage service jobs, low wage economics, and a large block of poverty for this being the so called 16th largest city.

However, its not even the 16th largest city by US Census statistics. Another of Mayor for Life Jerry Abramson attempts at lying. Another 110 jobs were lost recently when a packaging manufacturer on 13th Street closed down and 110 people lost their jobs. This after Colgate Palmolive closed down with 500 plus jobs lost there. Ford is laying off again. Nice job Jerry. Where are all these jobs that you promised when we voted for the new Metro Government and the Metro Council.

Since 2000, Phillip Morris has closed, Colgate closed, Ford layoffs, small plant closures, Flexcel 20 miles NW of Louisville laid off again, etc, etc, etc.

Where is the leadership in this area regarding these job losses. I guess its tough crap for all of those out there looking for jobs. Nice job Jerry. Same goes for the mayors of New Albany, Clarksville, and Jeffersonville, IN. Nice job guys.
