I have a good friend who's father works for GM and he never made $65 an hour in WAGES, period. Television news is meant to distort the facts to keep you watching. You're funny though.
you are very correct there kaybee..i and my husband has worked for gm for 25 plus years and retired the end of last year and our ending wage after 25 years of service was 34.13 an hour..the guy on tv was speaking with benefits or he was an executive ..didnt watch it so dont know..but know if he was an hourly employee he sure the hell dont make 65 an hour..hes full of sh*t..

Exactly. These guys hear the distorted news reports about outrageous dollars per hour for GM employees and think their jobs at Honda are safe.

Is there any job out there that is "safe"? We live in a fickle world now. Nothing is safe, but should we live our lives worrying everyday that any of our jobs may be shutdown, shipped away, or discontinued? It is the reality of life, no job is safe.

Whatever. You seem to have your own reality. Your own little world where you are the center of the universe. It a good thing too, because no one else wants to be there.

Why all the negativity with Honda all the time? Everyone is stressed out with the economy and worrying about money and jobs and people keep coming on this forum with doom and gloom. Maybe you are right and maybe you are wrong but what good is it going to do getting even more stressed out than we already are? What is it with people who like to start rumors all the time to just mess with people?

Let's all just smell the flowers and ignore the new auto industry wage standards that are presenting themselves. Temps paid half as much gaining management popularity, buying out relatively young full time associates and top pay in the new Indiana plant which is wayyy lower than Ohio plants... Yeah let's just ignore it, it means nothing!

What is your point? You seem to have an agenda. What is it you want the Honda employees to say or do?

THANK YOU !! My hubby and I work at Honda and if something were to happen I don't know what we would do . You see , I met him there and yes he was married but since we have bought a new house, vehicles every other year and all the nice things in life. He has three children that he pays support to and it is more than you can imagine . SO hopefully these are just rumors and that is it. I know several couples out at Honda in our same situation .

Looks like you got yourself in your own mess!

You met him when he was married? Typical Honda relationships with MARRIED people...

Back to the point...

Noone want's to answeer WHY Honda has been buying out their employees ans waht the ramifications will be on the ones that are left over time? Do you think Honda will still pay ABOVE the market rate for production at that point?

Rambler may be a bit kurt about it, but he is right in his theory, I think. I'm not trying to be mean here, I'm just saying, prepare yourself so you are able to transition if/when the rug is yanked out from under you. GL

That person was kidding, people. They were playing on the stereotype of Honda employees. When you have over ten thousand people working at one place, yes these things will happen but it's not the majority.
Hmmm

Hopefully the new cars you're buying evey other year are all Hondas! I can't believe the number of Honda employees who have never bought a new Honda because they claim they can't afford one!

My question is not about the economic or business decisions that are made, my question is why people(Rambler) seem to target only the Honda situation..why not Siemans? Why not other businesses that have done the same thing?
I'd like an honest answer to that ....

I'm thinking that's what happens if you have a lonely or unhappy person in a factory with a bunch of other people all day.
