IN MY OPINION! What is the problem with the bowling coaches at Bellefontaine High School? This year the part time coach who is not there for half the practices (and now has 2 sons on the team) decides to have a roll off to see who gets to bowl!
The problem with that is that one of their better bowlers who has been on Varsity since he was a freshman does not bowl well in practice! So a bowler with a 197 average has to sit out and a bowler with a 120 average gets to bowl! Knowing full well that this bowler will bowl well in a actual match!
Another problem with this is that this may be the year this bowler shines and by him sitting out that makes it impossible for him to maybe get scholarships for college!
WHAT A JOKE!!!!! THE LEAST THIS IDIOT COACH WES LEGG COULD DO IS START HIS STARTERS AND LIKE EVERY YEAR BEFORE TAKE THEM OUT IF THEY ARE NOT BOWLING GOOD. AND LET ME TELL YOU HE HAS NEVER BENCHED HIS SON EVEN IF HE BOWLING BAD. I MEAN REALLY WES FAIR IS FAIR!
SINCE WES LEGG HAS BECOME BOWLING COACH THE TEAM MORALE HAS GONE DOWN THEY ARE NO LONGER A TEAM! HOPE YOU ARE PROUD!!!!!!
I THINK BELLEFONTAINE HIGH SCHOOL BOWLING TEAM NEEDS NEW COACHES!
TIME TO GO WES LEGG AND JANE CLINE!
AND ITS JUST NOT BOWLING AT BHS IT IS ALL SPORTS! MAYBE THE STATE HIGH SCHOOL ASSOC. SHOULD STEP IN AND SET THE GUIDELINE SO THESE SO CALLED COACHES CANT DO WHATEVER THEY WANT!
BIG SURPRISE THERE

I would say I have to agree with you! It was always like that in baseball with Wes Leg. He thinks his kids are the best in everything they do and he doesn't really give other kids the chance they deserve. Bellefontaine has always been like that and will alway be like that. I hope that this doesn't knock this kids spirit down.

Then why don't you apply for the job? Sounds like you know the sport!

Shame on any coach who does not treat all players fairly. As a parent it is sad to see our children unable to become all they can be because of a coach or teacher. They should stop and think, would I want someone to treat MY child this way?
Prayers to all.

Soooo, I'm going to assume Wes isn't letting your kid be the 'star' of the team and is instead trying to allow the other kids some game time? Teaching your child that the world should revolve around them isn't helping them.

Sounds more like the kid doesn't want to put in the effort at practice.Send the kid to a head shrink because this kid needs an attitude adjustment. If I was coaching any sport and a kid displayed that poor work ethic in practice, then I'd bench him and put in someone that would give 110% in both practice and game time..

Just another white trash B-Town parent who wants to whine about sports. This happens on topix every single time a new sports season begins. Let's face it, you parents don't WANT fairness. You want YOUR kid to play, that's the bottom line. As far as scholarships go, if you are so concerned about that, make sure your kid gets good grades and takes part in activities other than sports. If you think he/she needs a bowling scholarship (good luck with that), take them bowling other than practice and games and work on technique on your own time to improve skill. Stop showing your kid that they should whine to try to get what they want, that is what is wrong with the youth of today!

So your child's success is in life is based on how teachers and coaches treat them? You're a WONDERFUL PARENT!!!!

First of all Umm no I am not another Btown white trash mother.

And after reading this I do realize that mad mad mad is talking about my son since he is the only senior on the the team.

My son struggles in practice because he has RA and he does go to a specialist at Childrens Hospital. But when it comes to a school match he does his best and endures the pain in his hands and fingers and knees.

My son did go the the match and support his team yesterday for their first match even though he didn't bowl. I call that team spirit!

And as far as scholarships don't think you will find to many for Bowling. Although he has already won some Pepsi Scholarships from when he was young.

Even though he sat out he did bowl 3 games after the school match with Wes his coach there and did bowl a 708.

Bowling can be a very inconsistant game depends on the lanes. So NO MY SON DOES NOT SLACK OFF IN PRACTICE. He just has a hard time with his hands at times.

Im sure it isn't the only time he will bowl bad in practice and have to sit out.

You're all a bunch of complaining idiots. If you have a problem go to the coach or the school, not here.

Glad to see you are defending your son and also recognize the importance of team spirit. Unfortunately, you are the exception the rule in B-town. The parents there never consider that there may be a perfectly logical reason there kid isn't playing and someone else is. They usually can't accept that their kid isn't the "STAR" player they think they are. Then, rather than teach their kid about supporting the team no matter what, they rant and rave about it and act like idiots. It doesn't appear that you are one of those people, kudos to you!

yea Devin has 2 games of 230 but add another game of 230 and he still didn't beat the kid that sat out!!!!!!
I was at that match and I can tell you Wes didn't sit the lowest bowler out after the 1st match. OF COURSE HE DIDN'T HE WANTED TO MAKE SURE HIS KIDS AND HIS KIDS FREINDS GOT TO BOWL!!1
WES LEGG YOU ARE NOT A FAIR PERSON AND YOU HAVE DESTROYED BELLEFONTAINE BOWLING TEAM. THEY ARE NO LONGER AN TEAM THEY ARE JUST THERE.
TIME TO QUIT WES LEGG AND JANE CLINE!!!!

So a coach should not pick his starters based on how they practice????????

I would think the fair thing to do is base the starters on how they practice.

this is dumb. we earn our spots on the team based on preformance. if you're not good enough to play on the varsity team you should probably practice more outside of team practice. There is nothing wrong with the way Jane and Wes are coaching us. im on the girls team and Wes helps me at practice when i need it and HES NOT EVEN MY COACH. get over it and quit complaining. next year you should try to get the job! k, thanks (:

I know BHS produces good bowlers, but what I want to know is do they have any English teachers?

I would, but I love what I do. My boss is great. As long as the work gets done, she doesn't mind if I surf the net or read and post on Topix. And my hours are flexible. Can't beat it!
