I've seen Amish with four wheelers, tractors, and I think they can just hitch the spring wagon up to the tractor and take the family to town in Holmes county. (all depends on what the bishop of the church says)

So the Bishop makes the rules, not God. How convenient.

yeah, how convenient. I ate in the home of a bishop of an amish church recently. This family was very hospitable. Not judgemental, and served a meal that was very delicious. The home was very beautiful. See you can heat water with gas, cook with gas, have gas lights etc. They were very intelligent people, kind, and social. I loved every minute of it. His wife used to work as a physical therapist. They believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. The Bishops of the church decides what is allowed materialistically. Not to be confused with the written word of God. (just a way to preserve a wonderful society)

Alot of Amish I run into at our local shopping places are indeed, some of the rudest people I have ever met. The women, in particular, give nasty/hateful stares at my family & me. We are the ones being respectful to them, by not staring... they don't bother me. They might not believe in killing people, but there eyes can do more to someone's soul when they look at you with hatred, disgusted & horror. Frankly, that isn't being like JESUS at all!

I like the Amish, they've always been very nice to me.
You have to understand, they have an entirely different culture from ours. There's bound to be differences.
People south of the Mason Dixon think that Northerners are rude and unfriendly and compared to them, we are.
There are many cultures,I suggest that we don't expect everyone to be just like us, it makes for a far more interesting world.

There are 2 different groups of Amish in logan county. The clean Amish or the belle Center area group and then the Dirty amish or Degraff group. I have been inside the Belle Center amish houses many times and they are not only beautiful outside but very clean and well kept inside. I have set at their table and enjoyed a meal with them on many occasion. I have also seen the income tax return of one construction worker and the only thing he didnt pay was Social Security. All other taxes including Federal taxes are paid. However they do not draw from social Security as they take care of their own.
So Belle Center Mayor ... get your facts straight because you dont know what your talking about. If they didnt pay taxes then Holmes County in Ohio would go bankrupt as its the largest Amish community in the state of Ohio. It is almost 80% populated by the Amish. The town of Kidron is all Amish and is home to Lehmans Hardware. It is the Walmart for Amish. It is great I could spend all day shopping there.
I consider the belle Center Amish friends and a welcome part of this community.

Why anyone eats their food is beyond me. They are dirty people. Do you really think they wash their hands before they make that bread you all shove into your face holes? Get with it people.....they're savages.
They do not euthenize dowsyndrome/disabled children.
Got an Amish family just 2 miles from us that have a daughter with down syndrome.

ALSO...YES THEY DO PAY TAX"S!
They pay property tax's just the same as all other land owners. They even pay our school tax's even though their children don't use our schools.

They don't have SS numbers,so no they don't pay any income tax if thats what your talking about.

They are not savages. Our Amish neighbors are the cleanest, nicest folk you'd ever wanna meet. You could eat off their floors their homes are so clean. Now the ones from Degraff might be another story.

Yahmo folks look down their nose at the hell bound english. They are very unpatrotic and never fly the flag, ect, ect. They are ony a extremist religious outfit such as the other wacked out forigners, they abuse children and keep it all quiet,,,You know what Im saying is 100% factually true.
Theres a group of them now destroying "The Old Village" in Marysville, it was a group of American log cabins that were relocated in the 1970's for permanent preservation. I guess the new owner Nestle USA (another forign outfit) will reple The Old Village with some more asphalt?
These rude Yahmo's go round pissing like dogs, in plain view. Which reminds me of their puppy mill operations.
They run their business on the down low.

It is most always a mistake to generalize. There are many Amish groups. The ones I know anything about are the Amish at Belle Center/Northwood. They are hard working, clean, honest folks, who put great emphasis on the traditional American family. Dad works, mom stays home, cleans, cooks, & looks after the children--kinda like my family when I was growing up, in the '30's, forty's, & '50's.

Former Beachy Cabinet Company Owners Arraigned in Madison County

July 6, 2012 By markbrake

Owners of the former Beachy Cabinet Company near Plain City were arraigned in Madison County Common Pleas Court on Monday, charged with eight counts of defrauding the state’s workers’ compensation system between 2006 and 2011. Not guilty pleas were issued for Randall Beachy, 50, 6120 Taylor Blair Road, Plain City, and wife Linda, 49. Mrs. Beachy served on the Jonathan Alder Local Schools Board of Education from 1996 to 2010.

..........

The owners of the former Beachy Cabinet Company near Plain City pleaded guilty on Thursday to reduced charges of fraud, involving the state workers’ compensation system.

Randall Beachy, 51, 6120 Taylor-Blair Road, and wife, Linda Beachy, 49, same address, were convicted in Madison County Common Pleas Court of defrauding the state of more than $200,000 between 2006 and 2009. Sentencing for the couple is set for Feb. 21.

The Beachys were each indicted in June on eight felony counts of failing to collect and pay the required taxes on their employees and defrauding the state system for injured workers over several years.

The indictments followed an investigation by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office of business dealings at the former custom cabinet shop at 8005 Lafayette-Plain City Road.

On Thursday, Mr. Beachy pleaded guilty to one count of failing to collect and pay the required taxes between Dec. 1, 2008 and Dec. 31, 2009 — a fifth-degree felony that could put him in prison for a year and cost him a $2,500 fine.

He also pleaded guilty to three counts of defrauding the state system between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2009. Those charges are fourth-degree felonies, each punishable by up to 18 months in prison and $5,000 in fines.

Mrs. Beachy pleaded guilty to five first-degree misdemeanors of attempted failure to collect and pay workers’ comp taxes and attempted fraud of the system between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2008.

Well I have written my Ohio Senetor and Representative about making them comply with the lighting requirements for vehicles on the roadways. The BC Amish do a much better job of lighting their buggies but the Degraff and Mt Victory/Kenton Amish don't light their buggies well. Even with good lights a weak battery and the smaller distance between the taillights gives the illusion they are a vehicle way ahead. Suddenly you realize they are real close and you are closing on the buggy. In Pennsylvania there are lighting requirements and they comply with out losing their religion. Isn't it time Ohio steps up and has a minimum lighting requirement? I say either light it up or stay off the roads after dark!
