They probably are bed bugs or fleas. They are probably everywhere in your home or even car. Use cortisone 10 product if you swell up from them. You should also do research in your couches and lazy boy chairs. They are hard to get rid of.

We have those same little black buy her in Michigan. I have been bit 6 time on the back of my neck and it's very itch, and it hurts. I've gone to the dermologist and they thought because of the mild winter it may have been small Mosquitos , but never reacted to a mosquito bite this way. I called my family doctor and said I was the 4th person to call with the same complaint. Some people says its.no see ums. I just know I'm have an awful reaction to them.

The bugs we have are tiny and black. You don't feel them when they first bite you, but then you swell up like you've been stung by a scorpion. I think these bugs are different from what ya'll are talking about. Does anyone know what these are?

I think an earlier commenter hit the nail on the head when they suggested "Minute Pirate Bug." We've been plagued with tiny flying black insects in our backyard for several years. They particularly like to bite behind your ears or on the back of your neck,. You don't realize it until you feel the pain of the bite and by then its too late. The bites are far more red than a mosquito bite and the itch lingers much longer. They also tend to bleed right after the bite...a LOT. My kids and I get eaten every time we try to play outside and it's enough to drive us back in the house which sucks. For some reason, my husband doesn't get bitten. Grrrr... Anyway. I've caught a few of the little buggers and looked at them with a magnifying glass. They look exactly like the extension photos of Minute Pirate Bugs....teeny, oval, black with transparent wings. And the good news? There is no way to repel them. Great! Not sure if anyone else is suffering yet but the crazy warm spring here in Southern Wisconsin has brought them out in droves already. Usually, we just have to put up with them in late summer until it freezes. Now, I'm not sure what we're going to do. I'm going to call an exterminator to see if there is someway to fog our yard. Otherwise, we're going to have to spend all summer in the house.

My poppy seed bugs don't fly, they are so small you cannot see their legs and I am only finding them on my kitchen counter. I clean them off & I see them rarely until the next morning. I have been very itchy lately, but have never noticed any on myself. I sprayed but they came back.

I just got bit twice and I caught the thing and squished it. WHAT IS GOING ON. I never saw this bug before and I have gardened outside for 15 years here! I found it on my face while I was sleeping ... I caught it in my fingers (can you believe this) now I am looking everywhere in my room for bugs. I only found this one. hmmmmm. I do not like this. I am so itchy ... I can't sleep again. Live near Toronto, Canada.

I "think" it might be the insidious flower bug. Check out this site. http://www.ppdl.purdue.edu/PPDL/hot06/10-3.ht...

I found small round black bugs on my dog. They were attached but were easily removed by a simple scratch with my fingernail. They lay very still after I removed them and eventually started crawling away. they do not jump and no legs are visable. When I popped them with my nail, it appears to be blood. What are they? It looks nothing like a flea and they move fairly slow. Does anyone have any idea what they are??
My dog has the same and he is miserable. People who say they are ticks are not reading the details. They can be scraped off my dog w a fingernail and they look like lifeless poppy seeds all over the blanket where i was trying to help him remove the lil f**ckers. His skin is irritated red and swollen n areas. I treat him monthly w frontline and i know what ticks look like. In ohio we have couple varieties and i remove them everytime he goes into tall grass or woods. These little bugs look more like mites and i used lint roller to collect them from blanket. I wish i knew what they were and how to treat these pests. However for those who are finding bugs that fly or jump around those are fleas. These bugs described above and on this thread are not fleas. What are they? Help!

I live in Nebraska. I have the same problem with these bugs. They bite behind my ears and my head and neck. Hurts like hell! I also wish I knew what they are called. Not even bug spray keeps them off me while I work out side.
What ever is biting me is flat nasty leaves a hole were they bite, itch for a while then forms a red spot the size of a quarter and then hurts for about 2 weeks, then starts to heal.
This is the second time I have been bitten, never saw the bug, this happens while cutting the lawn, with long pants on and never happened last year.
The bite looks very nasty!!!

Folks.. these aren't Bed Bugs. We have them after our rainy season here in the AZ desert. Tiny flying black bugsters that leave a big welt when they bite. I have found a lite application of OFF! Deep Woods totally frees us from them. Caught one or two of them biting me and flying off.. they are quick! Lasts as long as there is a lot of water and warm temps.. Gary
After a huge rainstorm on the coast of SC my husband said a tiny black winged insect bit or stung him multiple times on his legs. They left nickel sized red welks with a head on them. He said they were very painful and also itched. What is this bug and what is the best way to treat the bites? Thanks!

I have the same thing going on in my house. They are not what we call "no see-ums" in the South. No see-ums are outside..........these flying black bugs are inside the house. I think I'm going to bomb my house, it seems a lot like fleas in a sense, but they fly.

seen some black bugs in yard but figured they were fleas, do they fly or jump, never heard of these bugs before either, but will def. watch my dogs and stuff. Have noticed them kinda digging at their ears so maybe these are the bugs you are talking about cause they have a bean field next to us..
