Indian lake skating rink is no longer a place to hang out and have a good time. All children MUST wear skates. Or they have to leave. Younger children are no longer allowed to play with the video games and watch unless they have skates on.
People were actually thrown out and police called because kids didnt want to skate. It may not have been a problem if it weren't an 8 year olds birthday party. The actions and name calling from the management (Lori Hicks) was unbelievable!! I know we will never go back there.

That is crazy! I have taken my kids there many times and my youngest never skated. That must be a new rule. a dumb one. Are they that desperate for money or what? What is the big deal. If that is the case, we will find other places to go for family fun.

Same ISP location.. coincidence? I think not.. Bashing the place once is good enough, you didnt have to make up an alternate identity to do so a 2nd time..

hello and thank you for making me so popular!! First of all why don"t you tell the whole truth on here..lets start by NOT GOING BY THE RULES!!!! and also disrespecting a 73 yr old lady!! now where to begin for the rest of the story..the indian lake rollarena has rules and they apply to everyone not just as certain few. The birthday party was already told that they could NOT have the party on a tuesday evening because of the free tickets that are given out on friday and saturday nights. it causes to many problems with the birthday parties. but once again janice gave in and allowed them to do there party. then JULIES (from subway at the lake)sister came up and was gonna walk right in and was told she had to stop at the window (she did not want to do that at all) and at the window she said her kid was not skaing and janice told her that every kid MUST skate. she did not like this one bit and tried to argue with janice. but paid and then stated to enter when her son said something and the mom said no honey they just want our money!!! thats when janice was advised of what was said. janice then went to her and said i do NOT want any of your money and you can leave. the woman got irrate and even went as low as tearing up the ticket which she was given at the window and tore it up in janices face and then trew it in her face. at that time she started mouthing janice as well as her daughter. at that point the police was called.
LADY YOU ARE DAMN LUCKY YOU DID NOT GET AREESTED!
anyone that disrepects a 73 yr old woman deserves nothing! and lady you need to get a life cause you are NOT EVER WELCOME AT THIS PLACE AGAIN SO GET OVER IT.

I thought your name was Lora, not Lori. It was back when I knew you. Either way, rules are rules and everyone must abide by them. These people should have been given a map to Sandy's or the Spoke...that's where that sort of behavior is allowed.

I didnt hear a 73 year old lady say anything. I was the mouthy daughter who thought she would throw her weight around. Anyone who expects a 2 year old to put on skates is crazy. As for a birthday party on a tuesday, If rules are rules then maybe she should have said no and stuck to it. She could have had them all thrown out. Lori didnt mind making a HUGE scene out of a small confrontation. As for not wanting people back in the rink, that is quite ok, cause we will never go back there. The sad thing is a childs birthday was ruined all because adults had to act like idiots. As for the police being called, that was uncalled for. The woman had already left with her children and it was over. Can we say DRAMA? Indian lake rollerena will get there publicity now... In the police beat!

Ok Mom. Whats Sandys or the Spoke have to do with any of this? I don't know what goes on at Sandy's, but i do know about the spoke. And what behavior are you talking about? In case you didn't notice, the skating is a family establishment and the Spoke a bar. I still don't understand why people get on here about one thing and it ends bashing someone else. And the Spoke does have rules!!!!

Let me start by saying "Janice.........you are the best thing to happen to the lake, you take all those kids in several times a week. Parents just drop and go. No big deal, I was dropped off there as a kid, and so are my kids. They know 100% they will respect you or have to deal with me. Lori, you are bigger woman than I. Someone disrespt my mother in front of me, police would have to come and get me. Kudos for being you too! Everyone else that feels different go somewhere else, oh well. Better off without ya. I love you guys, keep up the good work. You have kept alot of kids off the streets, for many years. Thank you Thank you Thank you!

as long as they can skate. Heaven forbid they want to play video games instead. As for respect, im not saying I wouldn't be upset if someone did that to my mother. Im just saying it could have been handled a lot better. It all could have been prevented if they would have mentioned the "rules" when the party was booked. Janice, I do not have a problem with you. I agree with FYI about you looking out for the kids just dropped off there. As for Lori, she needs to learn to deal with the public a bit more professional.
By the way Lori, didnt I see you in jail last year for stealing money from your mother???(your words not mine, that is what you told me you were there for.) Where's the respect there?
I understand that there are rules, but it would be nice to know them ahead of time. Making EVERY kids wear skates is a bit much. The mother that was upset had taken her children and left as she was asked. Being chased outside and being screamed at was a bit much. Once she left it should have been over but Lori had to keep on it. If the lady already left what was the point of calling the police? drama, drama, drama

We have taken our children skating many times and had birthday parties there. Janice is a lovely lady and should be treated with respect. She has more patience than most. When the birthday party is over, everyone leaves, and Janice is left with the mess. Our children have skated since they were 2 years old. The people that work there are great about tightening up skates for the little ones so they have fun too. It's a great afternoon of fun and a wonderful place for a birthday party.

At 71 the woman can run the business the way she wants. And change the Rules as much as she wants. She is not Rude, She is Firm and Strict. I trust her with my children. Rip something up and throw it into her face with me standing there. I would have done more than chase your rude ass out the door. There are other people out there you can bash. Leave the lady alone. your not doing yourself any good or even making her look bad, you are on the other hand making me want to beat you down for disrespect. Leave it alone lick your wounds and move on!!

The "humps" in the floor were the best weren't they...

As for Janice, you won't find a nicer, more caring person than she is. Her and Charlie were like family to all of us. I agree that she would never treat someone unfairly. Rules are rules. It is her place of business and if she wants to change the rules every hour on the hour, than that is her right. Did the original poster ask about non-skaters when they booked the party? You can't go into a movie theater without buying a ticket just to get popcorn. You can't go to a ballgame without buying a ticket just to get a hotdog.

We went a few months back for a childs birthday party, and I could have swore that there were at least 2 children that didnt skate, and nothing was ever said to us?

The whole non-skaters thing is news to me, but it is their rule now I guess. I can see charging a flat admission fee for kids whether they skate or not, but the whole "wearing" them requirement seems a bit odd. Could also be an insurance issue though (I know this is why they won't let hockey coaches on an ice rink with shoes on)- it's too easy to run over & really damage someone's foot if you have skates on & they don't.

It sounds like the people were rude to begin with. First of all, if parties are only supposed to be on the weekends, then they shouldn't have even asked for special favors. When I called to make arrangements for our children's parties, Janice let us know what was provided and what wasn't, what the hours were and what we were allowed to bring. It was very straight forward and professional just like she always conducts her business.

If she told you all kids must skate, she probably knew what you were about from the very beginning. And if I was there and saw how you were treating her, I would have opened up a can of Whoop Ass on you.

"all kids must wear skates" Is a common rule for many other rinks as well. It keeps them from horse assin' around and going in and out of the building and doing things they're are not suppose to. I use to take my kids there many years ago. It is a babysitting service if you ask me. You know your kids are safe and having a good time. What more could you ask for. Never had any problems. One thing I would like to see change is how her grandson treats customers,(little kids) and whats up with that music? At lease play top 40, alot of that rap is too much for young ears. JMO

I'm 64 and was invited in a couple of summers ago to just sit and watch. I have a total hip so I wouldn't be able to skate anyway. I sense something has changed since then. Some kids can't skate and will never be able to skate, so why should they be required to put skates on? When they took out the rail, they made it more dangerous to skate because beginners need something to hold onto. So what is a kid to do? Put the rail back in and more people might skate. Presenting such inflexible rules and calling police when people are surprised by it and react to what they don't experience elsewhere, is a little dramatic to say the least. I can't believe they even wasted time coming over there. And no, being 73, isn't a good excuse to be such a curmudgeon.
