i've had the local dsl service here for over a year, and it SUCKS. it's slow at best. i had att dsl on the west coast, and was much better. i knew a lot of people that had cable, and liked it. my understanding is that it's considerably faster too. i currently pay @$100 a month for dsl, and a phone hardly a bargain.

I had charter cable several years ago and was satisfied with speed and service but they kept raising the price on the cable.I dropped it.
I have had centurylink for several years now and like it also. They have 4 differant speeds. I use one speed up from the slowest.
I don't know how prices compare mine is twenty four ninety five per month.
Century has good service they will stay with you until problem is fixed.

I'm on the same speed range as helper, which is the fastest embarq/century dsl available in my area.If I had the faster speeds available,I'd jump on them in a heartbeat.

Very reliable.Still fast after 3 yrs using embarq and my pc/external modem runs 24 hrs a day,7 days a week. But when it comes to high speed internet,it's never fast enough,LOL!

Too bad our dsl isn't like the european dsl.Their DSL blows away roadrunner.I drool at some of my european buddies when they post their DLS speeds.

I've had both Charter and Century Link. Both are/were good when running, however I had way more problems with outages and equipment failure (leased routers/esp.) with Charter.

Century link has been fine, other than the occasional sporadic downtime. That isn't very often though, and overall I am way more satisfied with them.

we have had embarq for years. we have what they call a "naked line". we do not have a land line phone. we have the 5 mps (Icant remember the correct term). we also have iptv that runs through the internet. we have 1 computer that runs all the time, watch iptv which streams through internet and rarely have a problem.
HOWEVER, we have discovered that when we do have a problem streaming, we go out and check our speed. it is way lower than what we pay for. a few minutes later, we check again and it is back up to the 5. we think they put a "cap" on the line.
we wouldn't trade what we have for charter.

I currently have 8Mbps service with charter but clock around 28Mbps. What service would be comparable on centurylink as charter is getting way too expensive.

I ordered the $29.99 for one year from the new time Warner local provider. I'm clocking a constant 15 mb per sec download. No complaints from me!

I have been with CenturyLink for at least eight years. I am not at all happy with the way they do billing!!! They do not carry themselves in a professional manner, because after making an agreement
with me as their customer; the very next month, they forget the agreement and attempt to over bill me by a difference of $34.00!!!
This type of indiscretion is not a surprise, as I have stated " I've been with CenturyLink for at least eight years, and I'm aware of their obscene efforts to wrangle every dollar they can get their greedy little hands on!
I truly propose there should be a new law passed, in which it states that for Anyone, to talk on the phone, be it long distance or locally, Or to communicate on the net; there MUST be "two" separate entities to take place, and be monitored. Those two entities, are "pricing" and "privacy". PERIOD!!!
