Please let me know who to talk to at product action to receive my vacation pay. I have been with product action for 8 long years. You are correct in the first few years of my employment product action was a good place to work. Upper management took advantage of the employees and other things
I doubt you will be able to re-claim your vacation pay. COBRA benefits won't be available, so I doubt if there is a reclamation process in place.

What specifically does the statement
Upper management took advantage of the employees and other things
mean? If you work for a company for eight years, then you get a decent view of upper management and how they operate.

From what I have heard, they are not working for Stratosphere they are working for Custom Staffing, So is there really a company or not. And I have tried to get my vacation pay I was due, but am being told that I can not get it, So any of you who still had vacation days are out of luck, I have called the National Labor Board and was told there is nothing I can do to get my days. I am glad I didn't go with this new company if there really is one. I wonder if Honda knows all this. From all the things I have heard it is really not different than Product Action, and there are people who are sorry they went back.

Thank you for putting it in perspective, how does a company get assigned any new business without being ISO certified (at this level) and all their people being run through a temp agency? Who is kidding who here?

I was an employee with P.A.I.. They did us so wrong in many ways. First they took the Life Ins. away. Then most of us lost all the other benefits. Then our wages were cut 10%. I'm told EM's & up got all of their vacation & was warned that this was going on. They have only taken back a few of the people to work. Some that aren't the greatest inspectors & some are retired with other money coming in. What about us single parents? How do they expect us to feed our families? Kevin Pever needs to rethink some of his options on who should be there. If they don't get their heads out of their ASS they are going to go under again. They also need to get the people back working that are GOOD! They need to rethink some of the management they kept.

It is all very sad, but I don't think PA did anything other companies struggling wouldn't have done to survive. As far as I can tell I think if Stratosphere is giving people jobs, that is a great thing in this economy. Best of luck to all

I am sure if they could they would, but it is not like they have all the business. You should wish them luck - not be so critical.

I do wish some of them luck!!!! I'm not being critical.... I'm just saying they should have given everyone a chance. They called some people back that haven't worked a second with this new company. But when they get the jobs coming in, at least they can be called. Some of us don't have that & there's no jobs at this time in my area, & I'm a single parent. They didn't have that many jobs when this all happened. At MAP we only had about 6 inspectors a day, if we were lucky. And really they were the PC's.

Many of the messages in this thread sound a little more like sour grapes than actual concern. All of the people on this thread can hypothesize all they want on how a company can be created and step in, so I would like to throw my own theory on how Stratosphere came to life.

Product Action had limited time to obtain the needed money to continue business as the banks were not in the position (nor desired) to make any potentially risky loans. One of the options for H.L. was to contact S.C. and other potential backers to see if they would float the needed capital to keep Product Action operating. Remember, S.C does not own Product Action and has been out of the business for over 4 years. S.C. reviewed the business, and makes a hypothetical offer to H.L. to take over the failing company. H.L. refuses the offer, and counters to S.C. other options. S.C. sees that Product Action is in trouble and passes on the opportunity to save Product Action, but sees a chance to create something better than what Product Action had become.

The day the announcement is made; S.C contacts key personnel within the Product Action organization and asks them if they would like to work with him to create Stratosphere Quality. Within a day Stratosphere Quality is born. Immediate issues regarding paying inspectors on projects that became active jobs for Stratosphere are solved by getting help from temporary employment agencies to handle payroll and initial hiring processes (this creates the perception that Stratosphere employees are temporary employees). Several temp agencies are used across the multiple states where S.C. has brought in what can be seen as a talented and ambitious group of people.

Some of the people brought to Stratosphere are ex-Product Action Quality Department staffers who are immediately tasked with ISO certification and what might be the easiest route to obtain the cert. OEM's and suppliers bombard Stratosphere with vendor requests and information packets. Needless to say, the first 72 hours of the company history has people jumping through hoops surrounding hoops with fire.

This is what S.C. excels at most- getting people to do the impossible.
The reason that Stratosphere Quality can go into Honda with well-known credentials is that S.C. has brought the key players from the Honda business into Stratosphere. These people have been working with Honda for several years and have built many professional relationships. Obviously there are still many hurdles, but as long as there is no interruption in service to the Honda production lines, everything starts.

But this isn't Product Action- managers are working line jobs, supervisors are inspecting parts, and whoever can work is working to launch something new. Sales people are working countless hours, operations staff are scheduling jobs (like the old days when there was no scheduling office), and layers of overhead do not exist.
This isn't just synergy; this is the cream of the crop that S.C. and his team picked doing what is asked of them. This should make every competitor in this business envious and nervous. S.C created this industry, and you will all most likely lose a little sleep while he proves again that he can re-invent the industry in tough times...

But this is just my theory- not a word can I say is fact.
For those former Product Action employees still in the grieving process of losing a job I know it is difficult. I watched this process from the outside looking inward and hated seeing what was happening. Keep positive in your thoughts and hopes for the future. And if you get the call from a prospective employer in the inspection industry, realize that this business follows the rise and fall of the industry it supports. Use the boom times to pay down bills and save money for the lean times, because they come more and more frequently.

I have to say I agree with Just Me. There are alot fo people who were brought back who have no clue what is going on, who they knew didn't do a good job and who had to be watched to make sure they could do a good job. I think alot of people who were brought back were picked by Supervisors for the fact they knew those people would do any job, and put up with crap and not voice any concerns about what was going on. I'm not putting those people down its just not everyone can do this kind of work. There were alot of people brought back who do have other incomes, I think because they knew those people will sit and wait for them to call them if they are needed. i will admit it is amazing S.C. could do what he has done in a matter of days, but for everyone I hope he has enought forsight to see what Product Action did wrong, especially how they treated their employee and not make the same mistakes.he did hire back alot of good people who I hope he realizes their abilities and treats them as he should. And realize that even though he did bring back some good people that some are back stabbers and will start rumors and try to get ahead in this new company will the same tactics they used before, that they will suck whatever they can to get ahead and I hope he can see though all this. And get out there and realize he can't rely on all his Superviors and others in Upper Management to do this for him. There is alot of favorites with the Supervisors and that fact have kept alot of people their jobs and I'm sorry but that is not fair. Maybe he should look at the Supervisors once things get going and see if he should make some changes. And make some decisions for himself.

What I don't get is why all these people that are shocked that Product Action went out of business. If I worked for a company that was in the back pocket of Chrysler, that forced their suppliers to use someone they don't want to when a quality concern comes up.

Then Product Action comes in with using excessive amounts of labor, excessive amounts of supervision and hoses the supplier "which that is their paying supplier." at a cost of $30 some dollars hourly.

Then they only have those customers at Chrysler or where ever else they are at they will never get a supplier that calls them up for a good service at a great price.

The new company Stratusphere as long as they have the same beliefs they will be in the same boat againg down the road.

This also goes to Griff Co's of the world, we know who they are. The ones that will be standing the end is the company that offers the best service, responce time, quality and price will end on top in the end. Unfortunatly I don't know who that will be. So if your looking for a job for 5 yrs or so then that't the place to work but if your looking for a career then find some other place to work at. But Good luck to all you suckers at PAI or what ever company it is!!!!!!!
