Yes Honda did award them sole sourcing, but my sources tell me that it may only be a temporary measure, bottom line is that Stratosphere is PAI, just with less locations and debt and employees. The reality is that the door is now open for all the wolves to try and go in. We have customers calling us to say they won't work with Stratosphere because of the lurch they left them in.

If I was Stratosphere I wouldn't be too confident that everything will go as it had planned. To the other poster I can assure you Steve Cage knew exactly what was going on.

I hope that it did open the door, that way Iam able to use other other companies rather then Stratosphere. Which is good so I don't have to pay $30hrly for inspection work that is unmanaged and a huge invoice. This way I can use companies that are around $24hrly and a much better service. I am not sure if anyone else knows a good inspection company that is in that area but if you do drop me a line.

Red,

There are numerous companies you can utilize. I work for one of them but honestly do not want to advertise it. I am not sure what Stratosphere's price point is but knowing Steve and his mentality it will be 25-30 percent higher than anyone else.

If steve cage is the person you say he is he would try to make things right with the people who had made him plenty of money in the beginning.Even though he let the LLC buy into the company rumor is he still had controlling interest. I was a faith ful employee that was left with no insurance and no money for all of my vacation days that was not taken.

It is not fair for you to write a bunch of inaccurate information. Why don't you get your facts straight, before you comment? for one, EE's were paid all vacation owed.

Who was the President of the company running it? Steve Cage? Honda had little choice but to keep existing staff working there. I can tell you that Stratosphere is under the microscope, does not have sole sourcing as it once did and Honda is talking to lots of companies to prevent this from happening again to them. I can name 2 others besides ours. Oh by the way some of the PA people we have hired havent got their paychecks. And what about ISO certification? Does Stratosphere have that? <quoted text>

Honestly, I can look at all of this on both ends. I worked for PA for almost 6 years and was there til the end. When Steve owned it we were treated like family. Things went downhill once it got sold to the investors. The last 2 months there were the most stressful times ever. It does suck that he's started a new company a day after and that most of the people were offered jobs on the same day that PA closed. I am glad for the single parents that they have a job to go to right now, but some are better off moving on. I lost alot of friends that I made there over the last several years. I'm still burned on how things panned out. The lies we were given. But what can you do? I do with the new company the best of luck.

If it is so solid why is the executive team of HAM meeting with other companies regarding this specific activity. I understand you don't want to lose your job again but the door is open now. HAM won't let this happen again

HAM will and always will listen to all inputs and suggestions from Stratosphere's competitors. And I agree that HAM does not want to be placed in a position where a partner's business model puts them at risk. If a sorting company is out there that has established relationships with HAM, HTM, HMIN, and their numerous suppliers AND does not rely on bank loans for operating expenses or payroll, then I am reasonably sure that HAM will listen to them as well.

It's not that Product Action or it's leadership failed- it was the business model that eventually took its toll. So for those sorting companies still in existence, I applaud you for your stamina and resilience in this time of economic hardship. If your current business model mimics the one practiced at Product Action, then good luck to that as well.

You don't understand- I never lost my job.

you may never have lost your job but many have, congratulations. Cashflow and lean are king, not layers of management, not empty warehouses, not idle employees, not reliance on one industry, not lack of reserves, not lack of vision, not arrogance, not trying to be in every corner of north america, not 100% growth, not lack of fear of competition, not sole sourcing, not saying you have full time employees when you hire temporaries, not changing managers shirts (you probably know what I mean) you are right the business model was horrible.

First off to Geeky one I worked for PAI for over 4 years and I don't know what position a EE is. PAI was not a bad company back in the day when I started, but boy it went down fast. We lost all raises and 10% of our pay and lost our jobs in about 3 or 4 months. Yes I have went to work for Stratosphere Quality, in this time in our country if u have a job or can keep one, u really have no choice. I worked out of the Marysville office. We all have questions the ones of us that they asked to come back. Alot of things don't add up. And we have alot of questions, but right now no answers. With Steve Cage being on the Board of Directors of PAI, he didn't see this coming, I was told that alot of the companys that PAI did inspections for did not pay them, if tis is true how does Steve think they are going to pay him.
I love the work I do. I am A PC and do my job very well. If anyone has an ideas on a company that I could go to work for, that I can do the same work and is more stable ground please let me know.

EE (Exempt Employee- normally referred to as salaried employees)
NEE (Non-exempt Employee- normally referred to as hourly employees)

Some people confuse the term EE with all hires. As for your's and many other's questions, hopefully answers will come in time.

The bank now handles the outstanding accounts. The last few months of PA's existence should have clued everyone in on the fact that the writing was on the wall. No one wants to see any company go under, so I would assume that most were trying to be optimistic.

In the current economic climate, there isn't much out there that can be considered stable ground. Automotive, medical, military, retail, and service industries are all downsizing and "hunkering down" to ride the recession out. If you are working now, keep doing so.

Stratosphere is not PA and PA did not change into Stratosphere. There will be similarities and some faces have not changed, but they can not be compared to each other. PA suffered a fate that many sorting companies have already seen (and many more to come in the near future).

Good luck to everyone in their personal pursuits of happiness and prosperity.

Please let me know who to talk to at product action to receive my vacation pay. I have been with product action for 8 long years. You are correct in the first few years of my employment product action was a good place to work. Upper management took advantage of the employees and other things

Working for SQ is not that much different than working PAI. There are people who were hired by SQ but have not worked since Christmas. The Supervisors and Management are working 4 or 5 days a week. If you are lucky enough to be working a Supervisor might just bump you off your job and send you home. I know a new Company has to keep costs down, but you have to be fair. Alot of people are still getting unemployment because they are not getting enough hours, so alot of them really done care how many hours they get. I just hope all of you who were called back are not sorry down the road, the rest of us will go on.And hopefully learn a lesson.
