Bellefontaines parks department is a joke! The superintendent sits on his butt in his office doing what? He never returns phone calls. Hes never in his office. The way he runs the rec leagues is pathetic! The way he runs the travel teams is a joke! Kids are leaving city ball to play in other leagues (county ball) or just travel teams. The numbers are down drastically.$35 for junk uniforms. No 2 umpires are consistent with any of the rules. Something needs to be done before Bellefontaine doesnt have a rec league baseball!

"He sits in his office doing nothing" then "Hes never in his office" Which is it?

I think Youth Baseball is run by Hi-Point Baseball Assc. Not the Parks Dept.

I have never known a youth league to turn down volunteers.

Should we have him sign you up, or are you just ratchet-jawing to hear yourself because little Timmy didn't make the team?

Get a life!

They have a heck of a mess to worry about at Rutan Park. Maybe that's where he's been?

I agree with Town Gossip. If the youth ball league isn't up to your standards, volunteer your time and make some positive changes.

Besides, it can be quite rewarding to work with the kids.

Everything is done through the parks dept. Hi Point Baseball governs it but try to get anything done with them. Impossible!

Have to taken the time to discuss your concerns with him, or was turning to the brain pool of Topix your first action? I hope my grand kids never have you as a coach BTW.

Good point GBA!

I had the pleasure to work with Chris his first couple of years on the job and found him very competent, kind and genuinely concerned with providing good programs for our area youth.

I happen to think our parks are beautifully kept and the OP's is the first negative thing I have heard concerning the youth ball programs in quite some time.(However, when working in youth sports, you will ALWAYS have disgruntled parents who only want to complain about nearly anything.)

If you are concerned about the cost of the uniforms, why not organize a fund-raiser for your team to earn money to help with the cost and maybe an upgrade on the quality?

Chris is a good guy...he is busy. Be patient and take your concerns to him instead of bashing him here, as Town Gossip said. That is just tacky.

Our parks have gone down hill since Biff left. I have lived here many years and each year the parks continue on a downward spiral. As far as the youth sports go the numbers are down and many kids are going elsewhere. More needs to be offered for the children and maybe the best thing to do is get rid of the politics!

Biff is also a great guy and did a good job for many years, but if you think there were no "politics" in that department when he was in charge, you are sadly mistaken!

NO REC LEAGUE BASEBALL? NOOOO what will we do? who cares about rec league baseball. there are other sports out there than baseball. baseball is getting ridiculous how long the season is. start hitting in feb and playing through july then fall ball hitting lessons in the winter, and again starting up in feb. When do the kids get to be kids?

My kids want to play ball 12 months a year. It is what they enjoy. Better outdoors playing ball then in on the computer.

Absolutely! I agree with that but when it changes is when a kid
is pushed or "encouraged" to do all this extra instead of playing another sport in my eyes is out of hand. Let them do what they want and not what some selfish coach thinks they should do. I've seen it too many times in the 15 years I've been here.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Libra

Be very careful when handling financial matters today because not everything is as straightforward as it seems. For instance, someone may tell you about a fail-safe way of making money but neglect to mention all the reasons why it's totally illegal. There could also be mistakes if you're spending money, such as being short-changed or overcharged. So watch out!
