Wow! MRM is a lot farther than 5 miles from Columbus. They never even mentioned MRM by name.

Really! if they are going to say something they need to at least make it believable. But they never mentioned the "hill" by name so nobody but people from here would actually know.

I've never heard of this guy ever mentioning Bellefontaine...why does everyone here think he's the 2nd coming? All he ever mentioned is that he grew up outside of Columbus and then left. Have we nothing better to do in this town?

If you are an example of the product, I would say his assessment is spot on.
You all sound like scorned former girl friends - sans Tiger.

Here is what I know about Louie Vito Jr.:
* He wasn't born here.(Columbus)
* Has lived most of his live elsewhere.
* Didn't go to High School here.(Stratton)
* Doesn't live here now.(Utah)
* Comes home to visit when his schedule allows
* Has learned to give back from his parents.

You all are slamming him because he doesn’t “give Bellefontaine enough credit” for his success? Why do you all treat him like crap on here? Did you know he still helps out the food pantry of his parent's church,(Saint Vincent DePaul at St Patrick’s Catholic Church) through his annual participation in the Mad River Mountain Rail Jam? Some of you may have even filled your bellies because of this? I would imagine more than once.

He has also enabled people to raise thousands of dollars through his participation in Dancing With the Stars - for the renovation of the Holland Theater. When he comes home, he attends church and speaks to my family and me as if he has all the time in the world – and he surely doesn’t. He looks me in the eye, shakes my hand and asks each of the kids how they are doing – all five by name. He is a 21-year-old kid making a better living than most of you – by doing something that he loves to do. No wonder the envy.

He loves the snow and was able to buy a home in Utah, and save for the future because of it. He gets to travel all over the world, and meet new and interesting people. He gets to hang out with people he enjoys, instead of being on Topix with those who despise him – even though you do not know him, or have ever met him. He gets to choose sponsors that he believes in their product. They pay him for doing what he wants to be doing. He gets to use his gymnastics classes from his childhood, and smile while doing it. He gets to do all this and more because he is one of the best in the world at strapping a board on his feet and letting gravity pull him down a half pipe, flipping and twisting before the bottom – sometimes crashing. Sounds like he has it all about right. Hell, I envy the kid!

With hard work and some luck, we may even be able to say Olympian in front of his name. Has anyone else from Logan County ever had such a good shot of making the team? For the majority of people in Bellefontaine who may be interested, he will be on TV Sunday afternoon December 13, 2009 on NBC at 2:00pm for the US Grand Prix from Copper Colorado. You will have to watch it to learn how he does. I will tell you this; Louie and Shaun White were the only two during qualifying runs to do something special - by putting down back-to-back doubles. May the best man win.

Good Luck Louie, all seven of us and the dog named Tressel will be rooting for you!

I do not hate this young man. But by what you are saying he should be very proud of this town if he is so giving to it! Why not mention where he grew up? He might have been born in Columbus but so were a lot of people here. They surely would not forget where they were from. Not trying to be an ass I am just saying! I am not JC!

Amen! I don't know what all the fuss and negativity is about. He is a great young man and making it big doing what he loves. I am happy for him and proud to know him. Jealousy is so ugly.

Didn't he get the pot charges dropped? I hope he did for the local catholic church sake. Bad press is a killer. He sounds like a great person.
