Can't believe more people haven't commented on this one! I especially loved the article in connect to home that Brian wrote about how he used to be in the depths of addiction..newsflash Jackas$..once an addict always an addict! And if you were truly working the 12 step program, you would know that. this doesn't mean that an addict cannot live a clean and sober lifestyle, because they can. however, accepting that you are powerless over drugs and alcohol are pretty much the very first thing AA/NA literature asks you to do. If your arrogant mind allows itself to believe you have "beat" this thing..well..next thing you know you're running over concrete blocks with a stop sign in them at Wal-Mart. way to go fag! And I hope will zell distances himself far, far away from this creep. will is a good, ethical godly man that does not need to be mixed up with the likes of Brian Evans!

I predicted this shit a few months ago. there was a topix thread that had somethin to do with will zells paper and I said it then that Brian Evans would make zell look bad. nobody ever listens to me though! Lol but you can see when someone is REALLY trying to change versus someone who is putting on a front. Mr Evans is a joke, And has NEVER been clean through his new profound enlightenment. ever. I hope this jerk goes to prison. the possession of drugs will be a felony..suboxone is a controlled substance. what a freaking joke this loser is! Zell you need to stay away from this mess unless you want to loose all credibility!

To those who feel the need to judge.....this man is sick. I applaud mr. Zell for acting as a true Christian. We all sin everyday and Christ continually forgives us as we ask for forgiveness. I must say that I used to be very judgemental and harsh, until one of my own loved ones fell into addiction. It is hell! The suffering, shame, and torment these people go through is horrendous. By the way, the American Medical Association acknowledges addictions as a mental disease, just like diabetes. Would you be on here bashing your loved one who is diabetic and calling them names? This man has a mother and a brother who are fine people. Ugly words hurt, but loving words can heal.

Yes but he has a history of being a weasel, he will act like some upstanding citizen and liaison to Law Enforcement, when he really is just another criminal.
I guess he learned a lot from his buddies at the Sheriffs Office on how to be TWO FACED. he is never to be trusted.

spare us the medical crap. and who doesn't have a loved one that has turned into an addict? Now days everyone has a person they love addicted to alcohol and or drugs. but like the other poster said..Brian is and always has been a two faced jerk. and like I said, If he were truly working the steps, he would not be so quick to publicly denounce addiction! Humility is a huge part of recovery. and its not what most people think when I say humility. it means accepting what addiction is and everything involved. openly writing in a local media forum about how he used to be an addict is just bogus. he obviously is just putting on a front bc the AA/NA literature teaches us (yeah I'm one of 'em) that we do have a disease that has no known cure. Which means we will ALWAYS be an addict. a few months ago Brian is at a meeting trying to score some suboxone. that is not a person ready to live in recovery!! I'm not judging him, hell if anything he is his own harshest critic! Because if he were really giving recovery a shot he would not be distancing himself from being an addict. he would embrace who and what his is and give it all he has to "beat"this disease. instead he fronts like "oh I used to be am.addict." that's where people like me have a problem with him. he is still actively seeking drugs and putting on an act to our community. typical addict, its nothing new. but when you're lit at wally world at 2:15 am and get arrested for drugs and alcohol it appears that Mr Evans needs to re-evaluate where he is in the process of recovery and keep it real. if he doesn't do that than he will just become one of the victims of this disease. addicts don't need shit sugar coated. they need the harsh truth about what it takes to be in active recovery. And as far as Mr zell goes..I too applaud him for having such a pure and forgiving Christian heart. but there comes a point in time where you must ask yourself if someone else's addiction is worth your livelihood? Mr zell is a businessman. if you have a liability to your businesses success you cut that liability. he gave Brian a chance and look what it got him!

Who is this Brian Evans? He looks so familiar to me. You are correct on owning your addiction. Once an addict always an addict. Been there, still doing it. I also won't ever forget where I came from, and I refuse to put my self around someone who is active in their addiction. I have worked to hard to get where I'm at, and refuse to let anyone ruin that for me. Many people think I'm a stuck up snob that thinks I'm better than anyone else, when in fact that is not the case at all. Of course those are people who continue to use. They can find out where the suboxone came from too. He needs to go to his own doctor, if he needs them. That is just as bad as doing the other if he is abusing them and they aren't prescribed to him, as it appears he is or did since he was drinking on top of them. I wish him the best of luck in his recovery.

WHO??? Did you just come from a meeting?

The suboxone was superscribed to him through consolidated care. The police report that they returned the drug to him the day of his arraignment so the drug charge is being dropped.

I guess it's bash Brian Evans day.

I pray for the guy myself. Yes, I know him.

He's made a lot of mistakes but the one thing I will give him is that he will tell you straight to your face that he made those mistakes and he is trying the best to get his life together.

Anyone else want to call him names?

I think someone misread the article about him saying he was "healed." I read the same piece and I think he was trying to say he had nothing and was hopeless but found hope through those programs of recovery.

Once an addict, always an addict. Doesn't mean you have to be an as$hole. lol. God bless you all!

Attention all opium addicts, check out Vivitrol, Google it, find a dr to prescribe it, get off the junk! This works, I've seen it myself. Parents, families, & friends of addicts, get your loved one to a dr & get prescribed this great new aid for addicts!

It doesn't really matter what any of us think or say. I know Brian and have been in meetings with him. I can't say that I've hung out with him but if I lived near him I'd have no problem being a friend he can count on to have his back. What a lot of you are doing is judging a man when you need to look at yourselves and fix what's wrong with your lives and keep your noses out of the lives of others. He knows that he made a mistake and humbly shared that with everyone at this weeks meeting. He's an addict an readily admits it and only needs to have people in his life who want to see him get his life in order. I'm happy to know that he DOES have a large support system and many people within that system that truly care about him.
Brian, if you're reading this know that I'm proud of you. You were embarrassed by what happened and considered staying away from the meetings because of all the crap that these assholes have been spouting but you showed strength and humility by coming to the meeting. I know that you believe that these meetings and the support system are what you need and that's why you fought through the humiliation and came to the meeting anyhow. I tell a friend of mine that she's fighting a huge demon and everyday it takes strength for her to fight that demon and keep it at bay. What has always made me proud of her is that every time that demon beats her so hard that she falls, she has the strength to get right back up and start fighting it again. She doesn't stay down and give up. She's my hero and now so are you because you chose to get back up and started to fight again. Hang tough brother and you will make it as long as you follow the steps and believe in yourself and the system. I'll be praying for you Brian...

If Brian is such a great friend and recovery story then why act the friend to his neighbor and then steal from his unlocked car? The guy had to pay $300 dollars to get fingerprints on new keys and guess who's prints came up? There is more than drugs going on here, he's just a sociopathic individual.
